Mark Wahlberg looks like he is going to be amazing in this too. I cannot wait for this!! I have never played the video game before but now I really want to. Thoughts, opinions?

The video game was excellent. It had a relatively involved film noir story line taht made it a lot more interesting than most FPS games I've played. And it was really fun to play while stoned - especially the funhouse segment.

It's strange that they would release a Max Payne movie now considering that a) it's been 5 years since the last installment and b) it is a dead franchise (last I heard they nixed any possibility of a Max Payne 3).
I agree with Socko, the first two games were a blast! Great story. Great atmosphere. Great gameplay. Gritty noire style mixed mixed with dark humor and some over-the-top surrealism thrown in for good measure.
Hell, just reading this thread makes me tempted to go back and play them both again. I could probably pick both games up for a few bucks each used.

Like I said, I've never played the game and I didn't know anything about it until just the other day. I don't know anything about the other movies, this just happens to look REALLY AWESOME. Hopefully it does not disappoint.

This film will be complete and udder garbage. Bluelighters will fill this thread full of negative comments about how it didn't follow that closely to the game, how it wanted to be Sin City so bad and that Marky Mark did not sing Good Vibrations in his Calvin Klines.

Trailer makes it seem like there are... monsters? If i recall correctly, there were no monsters in Max Payne. WTF is that about?

Upon additional viewings of the trailer the "monsters" might just represent Max's inner demons and not be tangible... guess we'll find out in October.

I was a huge fan of the video games. As has been mentioned, they had some involving, dark story lines. And I still haven't seen bullet time done as good.

The games had character (in true Rockstar style.) Though, similarly to HNIF I'm not going to get my hopes up too high for the movie...

I hope to be eating those words when it comes out though. Prove me wrong kids, prove me wrong.
