I'm pretty hyped up to see this movie, but then again my dad has been talking about it like it's the greatest thing to happen to film since Citizen Kane. I'll be catching it next Thursday.

there's a free myspace screening tonight in fox studios but arsed if i can be bothered walking that far. meh..... later.
I would love to experience even one of your most boring of days.

Everyone's who's scoffing at the trailer, saying it's a gimmick, well, a lot of people said the same thing about the Alien trailer. I really don't think this is going to compare to Alien but I'm just hoping people aren't totally put off by a marketing scheme-like trailer.

Another example I just thought of is Rosemary's Baby. I mean it was a novel first so obviously people could know what it's about but most people hadn't read the book. It's just as vague and somewhat of a ploy. You don't even have the foggiest idea what it's about other than it's intended for "mature audiences".

only boring people have boring days ;)

And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I'm perhaps the only individual that liked The Blair Witch Project.

::waits for stoning:

I think the movie would have been much much better had they used my idea for a monster.

Just got back from the midnight showing... IDK. I have to think about it. Right now it feels "meh" though.

Just saw it then. I loved it.

Do not expect a traditional story line in which a group of people face a problem, overcome, and learn something in the process.

Do not expect the ideas represented to be shoved in your face.

Contrast. At the beginning of the movie, the main camera man is handed the camera and told to film the going away party as it's "important, <the person whos going away party it is> needs it to remember us by". Later in the film, that same camera man exclaims, amongst the chaos that is unfolding that, "I have to film this, it's important, people need to see this."

Contrast. Interspersed through the film are shots of the couple sharing a day together. That same couple finding each other during the disaster was a main aspect of the storyline. The chaos is contrasted to the laid back date they shared earlier.

Someone hook me up with a pic of what the monster looks like. Thats all I care about.

^^ Here it is ^^

If so then, booooooo!

Yea it looks a bit like that. The monster really isn't all that important to the story however. You really could have replaced "monster" with "terrorists" or "natural disaster". The ideas would have been the same.

I am one of those people who hates it when the movie leaves you with a ton of unanswered questions. One of the main ones is the significance of the Cloverfield name.

Well then ponder no moar.

NSFW:
FACT FOUR: They Never Meant to Call It That - To keep the movie a secret, the project was given the codename "Cloverfield," after a street near Abrams' office. The filmmakers had planned to release the movie as Greyshot, the name of a key Central Park location. But the temporary title spread through the internet so quickly that crew decided to keep it.
