This was one of the most thought-provoking and discussion-provoking movies of all time. I loved it and I want to watch it again and again.

Can someone tell me what the point of Cherita was?!

^ HisNameIsFrank, I expected you to respond!!! :(

Well, on the commentary, Richard Kelly talks about the asian man in Fargo. How his role seemed to be so insignificant, yet it was his bullshit that clued Frances McDormand in on the fact that William H. Macey had lied to her earlier. He said that he loved how subtle the scene was and that most people don't even notice. Cherita was his homage to that character. Are you happy now, Mr. Powers?

Just saw this movie for the first time..ever. Yeah, I was a bit behind things here, and finally understand all of the pop culture references that I have missed out on through the years.

But what a movie. Thought provoking, beautiful, strange, and as slow of a pace as it took, left me on the edge of my seat through it all. Movies like DD don't come along very often, and I'm glad I was finally able to see it for myself.

^ Hi thar!

Thanks HNIF for that insight about Cherita. I LOVED that scene in Fargo. It was really powerfully sad and somehow darkly humorous at the same time.

i jus wanted to say that its mad funny that ego loss is talkin shit about the movie not bein that great and not getting it when earlier in the thread back when he was postin as Lingo hes talkin about how cool it is lol. :D

Donnie Darko movie

I've watched this movie several times throughout the years and recently got so obsessed with figuring out the plot. I've seen the theatrical version a few times and then I watched the Director's Cut with gives out way more clues. Anyone else love this movie? Which version did you prefer.

Here is an interpretation that I found:

I've always really liked Donnie Darko and, like you, I've seen both versions quite a few times over the years. Although I have read/listened to multiple explanations from friends to YouTube videos, it's not something I'm gonna stress over trying to get to the point where I could explain the plot to someone who's never seen it. Bottom line is that it's always been a movie that I've enjoyed watching and it can lead to some interesting discussions. Apparently the 'sequel' S. Darko is awful, but I've never seen it.

I saw it (S. Darko) once, but can't remember any of it. I watched Donnie Darko again recently. I didn't realize that was his real sister playing in it, and as well she played with him in Source Code.

I caught it (D.D.) pretty late, in 2006, with my ex. It was the last movie we watched together, the last weekend we were together, which made it have some kind of special effect.

I'm not stuck on her... don't take this wrong. I'm glad we ended (though, perhaps not how, and how much). But after her relationships have been non-existent. Life changed. I "died", like I had died before (but differently). Yep. Uh-huh. Then Richard Kelly as director popped out to me, because Richard Kelly was my best friend growing up.

The emotion of the movie, and themes, and music, coupled with the emotions that I went through during/after the break-up, hit, certainly, and lasted.

Still to this day I use "CHUT UP!" haha

One of my favorites. Watching it on DXM was... wow...
