Colon Cleanse / Cleansing your System / Colonic Irrigation

What kind of a doctor does a colon cleanse? Sorry but the threads too long to go through it.
OK, I knew that some will come after by arse from the science group, and the next question would be an attack of it perhaps or try to destroy its valid effectiveness?

But what the hell, this is for the people who need it and it is 100% effective!

The ones who run these organizations, are mostly Detox Health Retreats, but also run independantly. The equipment though made by medical technology, are run in places where trained nurses spacifically trained on using them, and they are very hygienic in every sense of the word, and follow through in what is necessary to replenish what may have been removed which is essential for the colon.

MNIND^pointed google Collonic Irrigation Cleansing (hydro), and it is what docs used the olden days of enemas, but nothing to do with its simplicity. This technology, also pulsates/massages your colon where the muscle has slackened and the deposits accumulate or where strictures especially in the

I'm considering a colon cleanse since my diet is shit (no pun intended) plus I plug my opiates.
I often feel sluggish and have trouble functioning. I wonder if a colon cleanse could help. But I don't know where to start. I want really good results, at home (hell I don't even like going to the gyno let alone someone putting something up my ass) but not cost a lot of money.
Any advice?

Doing a Saltwater flush is a cheap (free, really) alternative to colon hydrotherapy. I do them when I fast/liver cleanse.

And people also often OVER-estimate the fragility of the body, especially the GI tract. People tend to obsess over it. Just eat a carrot and chill out.

Yes that's true. The colon is self cleansing which many people forget.

Eating lots of fiber can help the colon/GI tract and Psyllium helps some people as well.

I know people who put water inside their GI tract weekly but they're into receptive anal sex and some are into fisting.

If you have colon issues you should see a doctor or some specialist.

The Pineapple Local (Suboxone Constipation)

This is what I've come to call my bowel movements since I started on sub a week ago. I've shat maybe twice, and both times it was like..well..a pineapple. And not a big one. I've tried all the tricks, miralax, senna-c, flax seeds on my cereal, at home enemas, etc. Would it be reasonable to go to one of those holisticy all natural places and just get a professional "colon cleanse?" I don't think my insurance covers it but at this point I'm willing to fork over a lot of bucks to have my colons cleared out. Would that work? I'm assuming they have technology to deal with constipated clients. I don't think I'm quite "impacted" yet, but it's getting there.

So, what say you. Would a colon cleanse be reasonable in this situation? Or would it be a lot of bucks down the tubes (pun intended).

I don't really know much about those colon cleanse products, no first hand experience here.

It sounds like you've tried all the usual remedies, and subs have been known to cause this problem. There is a thread over in Healthy Living about opiate constipation (here's an older one).

I'm going to move this over there since that's more their cup of tea. They may merge it with another thread, that's up to the HL mods...but before I do I'll throw my two cents in, as I'm using Suboxone as well:

-Coffee in the morning, before you take your daily Suboxone dose, ideally a good hour before. Make sure you drink a lot of water before and after you drink the coffee.

-Drink a lot of water all the time. I mean, a lot of water. I try to drink at least a few liters of water a day. Miralax only makes a big difference if you consume it all the time. That may be why you're having issues with that.

-Supplement your diet with magnesium (I used magnesium oxide because its dirt cheap and available everywhere). Magnesium helps by drawing more liquid into the large intestine, softening the stool and making it easier for you to take a shit. Make sure you drink lots of water when using magnesium (as I mentioned before), and make sure you're eating salty foods or at the very least sports drinks such as Gatorade that contain lots of electrolytes. Gotta makes sure your electrolytes are in balance.

Thanx for your tips, N.T. My big issue is that along with constipation, I'm experiencing URINARY retention as well. So, if I drink a ton of water, it feels like I have to piss constantly, but the only way I can piss is to sit and almost, god this is gross, "shit" out the piss. I have to push that hard. It's driving me crazy. I feel like I'm someone's prison bitch, sitting to piss. And at work the mens room is just a urinal and a stall, with very high doors, so people think I'm constantly shitting.
It's really just degrading and driving me up the freaking walls. I made an appointment for a high colonic tomorrow and I really hope it works-I just want to get all of this gunk out of me.

No colon cleanse

Colon cleanses can actually be very dangerous and are not as healthy as advertized. This is especially true with oxygen based or fiber based colon cleanses that you do by taking pills, you can really mess up the bacteria in your intestines which is a bad thing.

Constipation from suboxone is cause by a slowing of peristalsis, which is the squeezing movements your intestines utilize to move food along the path. It can also be cause partly by dehydration. When I was on subs, I would use mineral oil as a laxative when I needed it and it worked well.

With an y laxative, if you have to use it for more than a week you are recommended to see a doctor which is actually a pretty good idea, pooping is a lot more important than most people think!

No hocus pocus stuff for me-

I'm actually going to get a "high colonic," where they use gravity and water to gently remove most of the waste in an hour long procedure. I don't care if it gets rid of some "good bacteria" in my gut, I just want some room in said gut again!
I don't plan on it being a regular thing (pun intended), I just want to do it once and then start back on a high fiber diet. Once you're as constipated as I am, fiber can actually make the problem WORSE, as it just forces more waste to sit there and not get removed. This is a way of speeding up that process.

I had a physical breakdown some time ago after taking two antibiotics for a staph infection I got from a sauna. This resembled an attack of "IBS".. and I suspect an upset in the balance of good vs bad bacteria due to the antibiotics, and the fact that overconsumption of sugar makes symptoms worse strengthens that suspicion. For this recently I took an enzyme-based cleansing product called Candidase, which did seem to bring some improvement.
It's supposed to clear/digest stuck fiber from the intestines, which is where "bad" bacteria hang out. Although its advertised use is for beating down yeast overgrowth, it might possibly assist with cleansing for any reason.

its only in the West that we think colonic irrigations are atypical. In russia there are colonic irrigation saunas, and its considered abnormal to not attend one once in a while (with good reason!)

same for china, SE asia, japan, india, most of the world actually.

i take a lot of organic psyllium seed powder when ive eaten bad combinations of foods the night before, like hamburgers or pizza (which i rarely eat anyways). i can literally feel it ream all the undigested food particles out of me. you have to be careful with substances like this tho, it is medicine, not food. if you take things like psyllium seed powder/husks or any bran-oriented fiberous medicines, realize they literally suck the nutrtion out of your intestines too. dont EVER take them with a meal, or within 4 ours of having eaten a meal, or less than 2 hours before eating a meal. personally i take it first thing when i wake up after a night of bad food choices, and then wait about 4 hours to eat breakfast.

only an ignorant westerner would shout some bullshit like "there is no proof whatsoever" that colon cleansing has any health benefits at all. you probably take "preventative" chemotherapy, munch asprin for the headaches you cause yourself, say idiotic things like "acupuncture doesnt work," and think gmo's are the same thing as anything nature made. take a look at the statistics for colon health in the USA and UK, and compare to the rest of the world. its unfortunate what little corporate victims most westerners have become, bowing down on a daily basis to the agenda of Big Pharma.

"there is no proof whatsoever that matter has mass. there is no proof that you even exist." this is how empty you sound. your mind is the product of a bunch of bullshit ads in SELF Magainze.

you can even change your mood by cleaning your colon. a lot of depression is the result of bad diet and an unhealthy colon. you can feel your mood instantaneously lift after having yourself cleansed.

ever try fasting? a 10 day fast can extend your life by years, especially once youre an adult. but oh wait although people have been doing these things for 6,000 years "there is no proof that it does anything" lol.

i also manufacture my own kefir water (im a big fan of plum, but pear and guava kefir water are rockin too) on days i eat carb heavy, and kombucha (with my own spirulina and chlorella cultures) on days i eat acid heavy. this way i dont have to consume dairy to get probiotics (kefir water is not the same thing as kefir from milk). a poor balance of intestinal bacteria will lead to poor colon health, which results in body toxicity, obesity, diabetes, depression, lethargy, lessened libido, pretty much every problem the West has. you have almost the same amount of organisms living in your guts as you do cells in your body. feed the good ones, starve the bad ones.

that is, unless you eat sanitized food products, such as irradiated foods, foods laden with pesticides and herbacides, poorly handled food from restaurants, foods pumped with antibiotics and synthetic hormones, etc, which kill organisms in your guts. God have mercy on your colon!

speaking of chorella, you should look into chelation agents as well. Cilantro works well, i make a lot of nut "cheese" from raw organic cashews and pecans and usually put like a whole cup of chopped cilantro in it, cleans heavy metals out of ur guts which harm probiotic bacteria and toxify the bloodstream (and kill brain cells). there are heavy metals in nearly all foods we eat now due to modern industrialization (ESPECIALLY SEAFOOD). organically farmed blue green algae, spirulina, chlorella, seaweed, kelp, and a host of vegetables and common spices work as excellent chelation agents, but also assuming theyre consumed raw, unprocessed, and are organically farmed.

Help with cleanse/detox

So I have decided after a weekend of to much partying and bad decisions that I wanted to take a break and focus on my new job and spending my free time doing more things out side and developing my poi abilities.

I also wanted to do a cleanse and try to wash all the toxins out of my body. Is there any good vitamins, herbs, juices or anything else that would be good to add to a daily regimen?

I'm not sure you can 'detox' your body like that.. there are crap loads of products that claim to do that but personally I would be really skeptikal of them.

I think you can't go wrong with just making sure you exercise regularly and just eating healthily and sensibly... smoothies are a great way to get fruit in your diet if you think things are lacking.

Other than that I take fish oil and green tea but I'm sure there are loads of other things that other posters can recommend :).
