Opioids Experiment Thead - New Formulation Oxycodone Extraction

How strong a UV light would you require? Most any well-stocked pet store will have UV lamps ("sun lamps") for those keeping reptiles. Quite a few desert lizards need intense UV and pretty high heat (45-50c/120-130f+). Would a 100w UVB or mercury lamp do the trick if you put the shaved pill a couple inches beneath it for a few hours? Or would you need something more than that?

What you use for a UV source depends upon how long an exposure you want.

I am aware of someone doing something similar using "High Power LED UV flashlights". When I asked a person who knows him about the lamp specs, he responded with the quote "We at first used a very powerful UV lab unit consisting of….". He cut off the quote mid sentence, so my attempt to discover the power needed *or wavelengths) has not yet been productive. He then went on to say "[I feel] wiped-out, so I will end here for now because they go into a lengthy explanation/break down of UV light and what best to use with access to equipment. Also goes into costly investment, vs. cheaper hand lights that work good but take more time & batteries. Very interesting stuff)

I am salivating in anticipation of that breakdown, and once I get it I may be able to give you a good answer.

The only other thing I know is that because his friend wants to create something that can be reproduced by people without lab equipment, he decided to try hand held Led UV flashlights.

The problem with such flashlights is that the makers don't want to get sued for destroying anyone's sight Since you can't see UV light, you can't determine the brightness by looking at it, and if you did look at it you'd risk your sight unless the light source were relatively weak. It doesn't matter that they are called "High Power UV" flashlights. Have you ever heard of an apartment ad that said "cramped" instead of "spacious"?

With one of those flashlights and a homemade reflector, he exposed powder twice: First, mixed with an amount of 100% ip (Isopropanol) that sounds too small to me: "just barely Saturated") and left on a vibrator pad for 8 hours. then later, mixed with about 3 ounces of IPA and exposed for about 10 hours.

Again, I do not know the strength of those flashlights, but the flashlight makers are several power increases behind the latest LEDs. They are usually a couple of years behind in technology because the price drops whenever something better comes along, and they cpould not make much money selling an affordable flashlight using the latest technology. So for the same price as a UV flashlight, you can get a more powerful rawUV LED. You also have more control over the light. Unlike laser LED's which emit a single wavelength, ordinary LEDs emit light in a narrow range of wavelengths centered around a single frequency. Some may be centered around a wavelength that lies between vilet and UV, so that you get some UV, but also some violet, so that you can actually see some of the light. My recommendation would be avoid those because they waste power on visible light and instead to use several high power LEDs with different UV centered wavelengths. Alternately, a little research may reveal the wavelength that is best for degrading PolyOx, and just that wavelength need be used. Of course the person who used that flashlight just used whatever he could find cheaply, so you don't need to be exact.

What I really wish I knew was what wavelength and power his UV flashlight was rated for. And failing that, the brand and model number, or if the model number was thrown out with packaging, what the suggested retail price was (so I can try to research it). Combining our knowledge of the exposure times he used with the specs of his UV source will tell us what LED specs to use for different exposure times, and let us be able to give the reader an idea of how much it would cost. Of course we know that higher power will mean shorter exposure times but higher costs, but we'd like to have ballpark figures.
 
Not to get off topic, but would the water extraction work to release pure hydromorphone from an Opana Er40?? Or does anyone know any methods that are succesful? I recently crisped 2 40's in a large table spoon(in powdered form) until they started to turn gold and started binding together, it definitely worked to almost eliminate the globbing of the opana, and I seemed to get somewhat high by insulfation, but not as high as I would expect, so I'm worried some of the AI may have burned of as well, but I do believe I was on to something as it became completely gel free. I even tested it first, and it didnt gel w moisture, it also burned slightly when sniffed, so could I be on the right track? Perhaps I just need less heat for longer duration. End product was totally crystallized making crunching sound when re cutting it into lines. Any feedback would b great.

Well for starters you're not going to get hydromorphone from an Opana.

I have a good amount of experience with the Opana ER's but I never bothered with an extraction so I can't help you there.

160 watt UV reptile bulbs are easily available on the market. I'd bet an hour or two under these would give PolyOx one serious sunburn :)
 
i was wondering, in the 80 oc's is the oxycodone in base or salt form, if its a salt form, which salt? from my experience an acid/base extraction is best with all opiate extration, looks like toluene seems like the best available solvent

Almost all Oxycodone products list "Oxycodone Hcl" in their prescribing info sheet or in the PDR.

By the way, getting a PDR is a worthwhile investment. You can get a slightly dated edition really cheap at an estate sale or on ebay (some people on ebay have posted buy-it-now's for the current year for under $30, and many recent year editions have buy-it-now prices from $5 to $20 .
 
I have two OP 60s. Just two. I don't want to fuck them up. I haven't even tried to crush one yet. I'm wondering if I just take one orally if I will still feel the opiate effect?

of course you will. It will feel just like the old OCs if taken orally.
 
I don't think you've seen an OP. You need a Mack truck to crush one, and even then, you have just pancaked it.

Also, the "wax" (aka ammonio methacrylate copolymer) in the old OC has been replaced by cured PolyOx, a hydrophilic resin that absorbs water, expanding to a gel twice the original dimensions. oxycodone is bound to polyox, and released by diffusion, erosion, and/or polymer degradation. The latter is the fastest way to release it.

PolyOx dissolves in IPA, so you can use one or more of several methods to degrade it while in a pure IPA solution, which should be continuously agitated. When degraded, it lets go of the oxycodone, which will sediment out.

If you then drain off the solution, the sediment that remains contains oxicodone and a very small amount of remaining excipients, most of which are not water soluble.

It won't get everything, but you may be able to repeat the process of <degradation+agitation, sedimentation,drainage> using the previously drained solution to get more out.

Notes
  1. You must not allow water anywhere near the procedure. The isopropyl alcohol (IPA) must have 0% water. Even 1% will prevent the procedure from working. There is a procedure to prepare pure IPA with nothing more than an oven, high percentage isopropanol, and epsom salts (see note 5).

  2. It is a good idea to perform the procedure inside a sealable box, such as one of those large plastic containers made for organizers by Rubbermaid and others. A closed packet of dried epsom salts (see note 5) should be kept inside the box during the procedure to prevent the possibility that humidity in the air could contaminate the procedure.

  3. Note that with the second and any subsequent iteration, the quantity of sediment will be very small, and being white, very hard to see. It would help to use a small thin glass with a transparent bottom to hold the solution, with a circle of black paper or plastic glued to it's bottom, for contrast.

  4. Recommended degradation method is continuous aeration of polyox solution in IPA while flooded with high intensity ultraviolet. This could be preceded by using a fatty solvent to dissolve the anti-oxidant BHT, but with strong UV light, this should be unnecessary and would just make things far more complicated.

  5. Dried epsom salt can be prepared from the epsom salt you can buy at CVS.
    Heat in oven at 500 degrees until the crystals melt and turn into a solid white block. This has driven off all the water that was bound to the crystals. Remove block from oven and crush using vise or some other way. Don't use the kind of plastic pill crusher with triangles, you'll break off the triangles while crushing. Keep the dried salts in an airtight container with no room for air. When ready to use, place desired amount into any kind of bag that can breathe and close to avoid spillage.

justtesting, do you have a link to a good "how-to" on purifying IPA with Epsom salts. I have 91% IPA, but gotta get it to 100%.

Then once I have 100% IPA, I simply powder (or do my best) my OP 80s, then put them in the IPA and agitate for a long time until all the polyox is in solution with the IPA. The sediment remaining should be the oxycodone right? I siphon off the polyox/IPA solution, then add water to my Oxy sediment, and finally evaporate everything leaving me with relatively pure oxycodone and no polyox? So I can either shoot or sniff the resulting oxy powder? Thanks a lot man.
 
I don't know if someone posted this I've been reading for awhile but, for evaporation of solvents just make a double boiler. Simple and somewhat safe. Gotta be careful heating these solvents up. I was just speaking with my buddy and what I was describing earlier as an acetone extraction was in fact a methylone or methanol extraction. (which worked very well). Hope that makes sense. I'm fried right now, too much oxy today.
 
I also just figured out another way to crack these OPs open for nasal use in under ten minutes...

I milled the OP with the hose clamp and pliers like I would with a normal OC and then I put the power on a piece of glass and spread it out pretty well. Then, I took a butane torch (not a lighter, a TORCH) and slowly heated the OP from ABOVE. I never let the flame make contact with the powder. I slowly bring the torch closer pointing it straight down on the powder and as soon as I get the "sweet spot" the grains begin to melt and a white precipitate forms on the glass around the grains of powder. Now, after I do this to all the powder I wait a minute or two to cool then lightly brush the powder off the glass. I put that powder, which is now crispy but mostly still white, into a line. Then I take a razor and scrape the precipitate off the glass that was left behind. I don't know how this shit forms on the glass but if you snort or smoke the stuff it will having you nodding like a motherfucker in 5 minutes flat. I usually snort both of the bi-products. I will probably try to post a picture tutorial tomorrow if I have time. I showed this method to my friend tonight and after he did it he was in la-la land and I just left without saying goodbye because he was almost drooling on himself.

This is by far the fastest method I have figured out and I have noticed zero waste as long as you don't char the OP powder.

When I use the microwave method they say to go until its browned. I found it does work better if it doesn't actually brown, just sort of melt to the glass. Kinda like what you were saying. Then you really gotta scrape it up good, works great for me.

Thank goodness I don't have to deal with the OPs anymore. Although they are really easy to score because everyone seems to hate them. I don't think they're smart enough to come on here and figure out ways to defeat them. Quite a few different methods out and the 2 I've seen/done both worked very well.
 
Good day people.

I just joined this forum today after finding out the hard way about the change to the Oxy formula. I was in a car wreck a few months back (broken vertebra) and was prescribed Oxycontin 20 mg. From time to time I would cut them up when I was having a bad day or wanted to have a good day.

Two days ago I filled my prescription only to find out about the OP 20s. I've read through both threads on the subject of and it seems the current conventional wisdom is to cut them up finely (I actually was able to do this fairly easily with a pill cutter) and then soak them for several hours in an acidic liquid like Coke or orange juice?

I gave it a shot and it did work, although I'd say it was between 45 and 60% as effective as the old OCs used to be.
I've yet to try the microwave method. That's next and I'll let you know how it works for me.

I'm thinking of dissolving an extra 2 of the 20s to compensate for the reduced effectiveness as well as trying the microwave method.

I would appreciate any feedback anyone would care to give me, good or bad. I'll be glad to share my results later today.

P.S. The first time I used Coke to dissolve the tablets for about 6 hours but I didn't chop them up. After about 6 hours the pills were gooey and easy to chew. I drank the small amount of Coke I had used and found a small amount of white residue covering the inside of the glass bowl after the Coke had been emptied? I'm guessing that was the Oxy?

Sorry for all the newbie questions. I'll try to make my posts more concise from now on and share any info I come across as I experiment with the different techniques.

I'm assuming that the higher the pH the better? If that's true then it looks like the regular root beers (MUG, A&W) have the highest pH among the soft drinks, higher than lemon and orange juice as well.

It stinks that you're on OP20s. I never really hear of people on those anymore. Its supposed to be 8-12 hour med, so you're getting around 2.5mg an hour. I don't really know how the release actually breaks down though. Surprised they don't just have you on an IR med since you're on such a low dose. Unless you were at a higher dose and switched down. At least before you could just bite into one for some quick relief. Do they not give you a different med for BT pain? I've never even seen an OP20, is it really small? I'm not sure myself, but I heard the microwave method was more effective on the 80s than the 40s. So with 20s go not sure how well it will go. I've only tried with the 80s.

Now I have done the three toulene extractions and did the salt water bath. Its now in a pyrex dish and evaperating. Overnight a lot of tolene has evapd and there are quite a bit of crystals all over. This should be my free based oxycodone. When all is said and done I am going to repost the extraction in laymens terms. Plus a few warnings that I think should not have been left out. One being the caution of using aluminum with lye, i didnt but what if someone out there does. REACTION city. All I have left is acetone and titration. Then final evap. God I wish I had a vacuum pump. I hope there is someone out there who appreciates what it takes to confirm an experiment. Later
 
Just a little info for all out there. I was taking oc's for many years for a seriously f'd up back(DDD, Lum. SS, Herniated L1-L3, annul tears all over, and more). I switched to the new op's. I, for the most part, took my meds as prescribed and orally. I would occasionally chew, or sniff if pain got ahead of me(couldnt walk at times due to location of back problems).
I gave them a try for a month, and just orally since there was no way to break down. I even had my dose raised because my doc had already started to hear the horror stories. I feel that the new ones are FAR LESS POTENT than the old ones, perhaps this is due to new additions(chemicals) and the way they break down in the system? I can honestly say that they do last longer, that is only improvement of the med. But the power of the oxycodone is in my opinion about 50% of what it was. I know this because I would take an 80 of the old and feel good relief in about 45min. When I got the op's, I tried taking two 80's at the same time, and when they took effect(usually after about 2 hours), the analgesic effect was inferior to the single 80 of the old formula.
Purdue maintains they include the same amount of AI, which I don't argue, but it is the addition of these suspect chemicals to prevent abuse I believe making them far less effective. As someone who took the original formula for so long, I know there is something terribly hindering the release of the oxycodone. I actually went into wd's from the change in meds, and my dose had been increased! This is absolute definitive proof in my eyes that these new op's are completely worthless. I have complained to Purdue, the FDA, and written my senator. I think everyone else who was legally prescribed this med needs to do the same! We can not allow these big Pharm companies to use us as lab rats! They were never thoroughly tested on human subjects, and the ones they did test on were not opiate users. Also, the United States is the ONLY country allowing this new formula!
We can not sit back and allow this! Please, everyone complain to the FDA and the manufacture! I had finally gotten back my quality of life through the old formula, and now it has been flushed down the proverbial toilet with this new op. I am in th process of trying alternative meds, many of which I tried before the ocs. So I am back to square 1. It is truly depressing knowing there is a perfectly good med for me, and due to abuse, and mostly GREED(Purdue has gained brand new patent with these shitty pills), I am no longer able to function in a manner that is adequate with a sound quality of life. I feel like my well being has been pulled out from under me like a rug.
I also will add, I tried many of these so called extraction methods, and although some of them help slightly, the medicine does not work in the same manner as it previously did. THERE IS NO DOUBT THE COMBO OF CHEMICALS has altered the effects of the actual oxycodone! AND..do you realize these pills(op's) contain level 2 carcinogens in them, and this is a big reason why other countries forbid their sale? So, I hope all of you are very careful with your extraction methods, as the cancer causing agents only become more dangerous after being heated(especially in a microwave, which actually emits cancer causing radioactive waves of it's own).
So please everyone be very careful, and think about possible problems these can cause. I have never preached the use of heroin, BUT I HONESTLY FEEL, it may be a far safer alternative to fiddling with these op's in the manners that are described on these threads.

i'm pretty sure that the dangers of the microwave were addressed earlier and proven false in another thread. a microwave does not emit anything radioactive, and radioactive waves would only harm something living, not somehow make the pill "radioactive" and consequently dangerous to ingest because of radioactivity. (i'll link that other thread in a minute if i can find it.)

as far as what heat may or may not do to the other ingredients, i have no knowledge personally, and i have heard others mention that tampering with some ingredients could potentially alter them in such a way as to render them more harmful, but i have not really seen anything definitive. do you have sources for any of this? i'm not trying to call you out or anything; i would just like to see them if they are available online. (additionally sources regarding the "level II carcinogens," etc. and statements from other countries about them being harmful would be very helpful to the forum)
 
What about sucking on the OP? Does that eventally get absorbed quicker? Or is just swallowing better?
 
ashley: that's really the only thing i have tried with the OPs, and i definitely was opiated. i have no clue whether they played any role, but i always ate sour patch kids and drank coke while i was sucking on them. it definitely got me high, but i haven't tried any of these other methods, so i have nothing to which i can compare my experience.
