I'ld like to hear from anyone who uses an opioid to fight depression.

2023 over 112,000 people died from fentanyl in America and they gotta pick on pain patients, what a bunch of bullshit.
People that could have probably saved if pharma grade heroin was available to registered addicts as they do in Switzerland. Switzerland had a huge problem with H, now there s basically no black market of H there and many addicts manage to have a normal life. While it seems that in the case of pain patients in your country are doing the opposite, forcing u guys to use the black market! Seriously criminal shit...

Sometimes best to fall apart then rebuild urself. I didn’t realise how long term heroin and methadone affected me till I quit .
Was wasting life
In my case depending from the situation at times opioidd were helpful, at times weresimply dragging me down, at times I don t know...but I ve been lucky, I ve been using on and off for 13 years ( H then oxys) still I ve managed to study and live abroad, take breaks, never had issues with the law etc. Many friends of mine were not so lucky, hence is not something I ld recommend, I just think that in some cases opis can be if not helpful the Lesser of two evils

Ye I agree. I never really had control of my heroin use so it was problematic to say the least.
I just think it’s a shame to see people go through life medicated and emotionally numb.
Probably better medications than opioids for treating depression. If someone depressed then an opiate addiction will really give them something to be depressed about when they try get off it

Yes, I feel like opium is the best drug on the planet !!! Along with marijuana.

I don't know too much about ayahuasca. But break through dmt would be great too.

The OP, as far as I ve understood, has tried lots of anti depressants to no avail while Vicodin is helping her out a little. Obviously is not ideal I for one have suggested a safer alternative like Kratom but if It works ( and does not have a negative impact on her life) it works..

Ye for sure worth trying before adding opiate addiction to list of problems

Opioids were used for depression up to the 1950's. Abuse was rampant, as would kind of follow, so they were nixed. Barring legal consequences, though, maybe small doses work for some. But those consequences are severe, still. They're really just not a good class of drug for most, with things as they are. But suboxone might be valid in some cases. Dunno.

From what I have read on your posts, you are interested in Marijuana edibles to deal with withdrawals. I have read that some people claim that they work very well for withdrawals, (skipjames, who is a good and solid dude,) says for him cannabis in any form is like poison, and some people don't react much at all. It seems the effects vary from person to person. You are right though about gabapentin and weight gain. When I got really sick( alcohol abuse nearly killed me, and I lost a lot of weight, and I have never been fat or the least bit chubby. I lost what little fat I had and a lot of muscle mass) Gabapentin worked great on withdrawals when I stopped using morphine and helped me gain weight back. I am finally back to just barely over 200lbs( Ideally I should be around 220lbs, but I am in pain, in my late 40's, and my meds have made me too lazy to get a gym membership and regain the muscle mass I lost.) Anyways, you are wise to avoid benzos. Avoid kratom it raise your tolerance a lot. If the THC gummies help you sleep, then they might help with withdrawals. Are you planning on taking a break from pills to lower your tolerance?

No, I won't be taking any break from the hydrocodone. I count the hours till I can take my next dose. Yesterday, I skipped a dose, so I could afford to take 2 tablets together. The double dose felt so much better. It eased my mental state noticeably. I was less depressed with reduced anxiety.

I too lost motivation to go work out. Last time I paid gym membership, it was a waste because I never went.

I'm sorry you have to deal with chronic pain. A great pain med is Indocin (indomethacin.) It's a cousin of Motrin, but way, way stronger. Prescription only. Taking it, I felt 10 years younger. The stuff is beyond amazing. However, I had to give it up, due to developing bleeding ulcers. There's always got to be a catch.

Coincidentally, I just ordered some THC liquid that is supposed to be a more euphoric strain that will be here Monday. I’m going to see if it will help me gradually reduce my dose until I can get off methadone. I’m hoping it works, I’d rather take some kind of pot product than methadone forever.

I do believe that would be a beneficial trade-off, if you can pull it off. Tough to do though.

I'ld like to find a THC edible that has a more euphoric quality. I get zero euphoria from any cannabis I've tried. It will put me to sleep. Also, I think it makes me breathe deeper. My chest just seems to open up more. (I have some scar tissue in both lungs from a past pneumonia.)

Dextromethorphin is sold OTC, in cough syrup as a cough suppressant. Now they're saying it can help depression. I think I saw somewhere that it can potentiate an opioid. Cough syrup usually also contains guaifenesin, an expectorant. I've read that guaifenesin potentiates opioids. So I'm now taking cough syrup with those two ingredients, along with my Vicodin. I'm not noticing that it makes any difference.

I take oxycodone for pain and to be able to eat, the mood lift is a bonus

That's interesting that it helps you eat. Opioids are supposed to have nausea as a potential side effect. They never had that effect on me. I often wake up a little nauseated. A half hour after I take hydrocodone, my nausea goes away and I feel hungry.

My aunt is a super fan, for jer it was a mystical life changing experience that had a positive effe t pn her mental health and spiritual life. She says I should give it a try and that it could help me with my " addiction issues" etc. But I dunno man, hwr3 you can use It during the Ceremonies of religious groups like Santo Daime ( too much cultish for me) or with a xaman, there are legit ones and ket legit ones. Imagine being robbed and abandoned in the middle of a jungle while tripping!

Well I take it, 4 times a day (I have a script and only use the ones with no actemetaphan) spaced out and I have a script for zofran(ondansetron) which is a perscription ( non scheduled anti nausea drug, and I have issues with my pancreas, also I have a gabapentin script, which makes me hungry and helped me eat and gain back alot of weight). unfortunately I am to older, in my late 40's, and too lazy too workout and put back the muscle mass I lost when I got really sick and was hospitalized for several weeks. This was in December 2015 a few weeks after my mom was found dead in the house, I now own and live in. Cause of death: Complications from cirrhosis of the liver, I suspect it was from too many pills with actemetaphan and then drinking to help with sleep, and pain, from a bad hysterectomy operation. My father who died in August 2023 was a surgeon and had the name of an excellent surgeon, but my mom only would let a female doctor perform the operation. She ended up with an incompetent female doctor and at what used to be the nightmare hospital in our area. She suffered and ultimately, paid for her stubbornness, with her life. There is a lot more to it but taking hugh amounts of fioricet which has, acetaminophen, caffeine and butalbital, ( a drug for migraines which she had a lot of, and butalbital, a barbiturate, and was not scheduled),(at least not back then)( the acetaminophen in hugh doses probably destroyed her liver), that and turning me into her drinking buddy killed her liver and her. Hydrocodone can cause nausea, also mild withdrawal since you only take 2 a day. My mom had problems with nausea from vicodin and norcos, but didn't know about Zofran.
I had my wisdom teeth pulled out a long time ago and I told the oral surgeon, I am not a druggie but am a real wimp about pain( which was true, but mainly a wimp when it comes to oral pain) and I ended up getting Percocets and Vicoden( this was a long time ago). Anyways my mother saw the bottle took a bunch of them, and said I paid for the operation (I was put under anesthesia) They are mine if I want them.( I think the DEA would disagree, but she is dead and this was around twenty or so years ago).
She absolutely loved them( they are a mix of oxycodone and acetaminophen)
and said that unlike vicodin or norco's; that they literally got rid of all her pain( literally from head to toe) but more importantly, they didn't make her nauseous.
She went to the same doctor I have and got dilauded, which she hated. If she would have told him he would have given her the oxycodone I take( because she had a bad liver and he would not write for any drug with acetaminophen in it for a patient with liver issues.
However she had a lot of pain issues and refused to ever ask for narcotics. She would have gotten the pure oxycodones which I am on and are noticeably stronger than the Percocets. But her pride, about not wanting to look like a drug seeker was her loss. Back then he would have written for her plenty of them. Maybe even a stronger dose and more, but that was before all this bullshit about telling doctors what they can write for and threatening them. Her loss, and she would have probably been still alive today. Pride can kill you.
It did her. Also she had been taking lots of fioricets for years before this for migraines and to help sleep.
