its strange why no one hasn't asked it in the whole internet yet.but i've been thinking about it,i am an oxycodone user 5 times 15mg per day,if i get hospitalized for something important for example a surgery, what should i do about my addiction?
do they give me my oxycodone?i don't think so.
i think they give me methadone, and i have my problems with methadone.my heart is sensitive and methadone make me feel some heart pain.
i am sure there are people here who have experienced such situation.i would be glad to hear your answers.

i myself hate to tell them that i am an addict.they look me like i am a bad guy or criminal, etc.and they may force me to quit drugs,im sure they think i am a new user and they try to convince me that drugs are bad.i don't like to even start discussing it when i can't even wake up on hospital bed and defend myself.
(thread up)

In North America I thought that they often put a black mark on your digital medical records if you ever admit that you use any drug without the express prescription from a doctor.
Next, you would be disallowed any opioids while being treated by the hospital followed by more stigmatization such as here is your script and get lost (into a cab) as you’re seen as a waste of a bed compared to an upright citizen of society while calling you “drug seeking” to other hospital staff behind or in front of your back/face.

It depends on the effect of your withdrawal or possible withdrawal on whatever you're in the hospital for.

They may attempt to give you some sort of medication to prevent withdrawal until your procedure is done.

Fairly accurate summary actually

well over here opioids are given at least if they were given anyway for pain management and surgery so there is that even if you tell you are junkie. Might be more minor script or not at all when you are deployed to home. Don't know about maintenance solo, it may be essential for anything so I guess they took care of it sometimes.
But that's just in Finland.

This is one reason I got off of benzos, no need to explain anything.

Can we have this type of stuff over in DC? Cause it totally fits. I don’t want to poach threads but I really want to start…

Yeah to echo @xtcgrrrl and @Opi_Kid_Rock that can happen. Unless you have an excellent care team. If you have a solid dr, once you’re out you should be okay. I know that I was hospitalized and got kicked off of my maintenance years ago. This was for bupe while in the hospital. The doctor (who was a massive dick) wouldn’t hear me out. I got super sick and relapsed. I’m not a violent human anymore but if I saw that twitchy prick I’m really not sure what I would do.

I heart Finland.Compassionate care over the punitive war on us/drugs.

Its actually worse.

Broken arm: Naproxen a.k.a. racing shit. (GP/ Home dr.)
Broken Collarbone: 90 x 5mg Oxycodone 3x times a day (different hospital)
Bruised Rib: Nada (well I about to get Kratom in the big city)

Mind you all of these inflictions were my own fault, gettin drunk. But unable to sleep cause of the pain is unbareable. Fuck Paracetamo or Ibuprofen, worthless painkillers.

What medication PREVENTS wd??? You mean Lyrica?
i've read somewhere that clonidine helps withdrawal.but it is dangerous and should be used with supervisor,
benzodiazepines may help to relieve withdrawal stress, and maybe acetaminophen can help with withdrawal fever?

Is there something that helps rls?

Is there something that helps rls?
if rls is abbrevation for restless leg syndrome, then benzodiazepines are the best, this syndrome is a condition of high mental energy and no way to express so body turn the energy into leg movements. and antidepressants may help if there are OCD symptoms as well.i've read about it on wikipedia or a medical book not sure which one.
oh i should mention i have a condition when i am on withdrawals that my legs get some strange pain and i feel my legs are so tired therefore i move them like restless leg syndrome.moving my leg relieves my pain..this cannot treated using benzos.opioids the only thing for that, its more of a vessel and blood pressure problem but because it is induced by opioids i don't think there is any other thing to help.

Thank you. I'll see if I can get some Valium.

i double checked wiki page :

benzos are the secondline treatment and dopamine medications are more used if rls makes sleeping difficult for the patient.

wiki:
For those whose RLS disrupts or prevents sleep or regular daily activities, medication may be useful. Evidence supports the use of dopamine agonists including: pramipexole, ropinirole, rotigotine, and cabergoline
  • Gabapentin or pregabalin, a non-dopaminergic treatment for moderate to severe primary RLS[70]
  • Opioids are only indicated in severe cases that do not respond to other

if you want to use dopamine meds i suggest to see a doctor cause those meds are a little dangerous.

The government does not want you to be able to live a life without pain. They want you in pain or dead.
Dealing with some stuff rn that really brings this one home.

Also, I’m deaf, so I use the relay service (someone talks for me, I sign to them, they interpret what is being said on the phone via sign language etc) and I don’t think these bastards (the front desk people) realize that the interpreters interpret EVERYTHING, including the shit they whisper to each other about me, so thanks for that. Reminded me VIVIDLY of the bullying in grade school…apparently some people never grow up 😡🤬

If you're in the U.S. I'd be very surprised if they give you anything.
