Photography Photography Thread vs. BL Shutterbugs unite!

I just sold my father's complete old-school Canon AV-1 SLR film camera & 3 lenses, filters, motor, flash, etc. on eBay and the fucking buyer hasn't even left me any feedback.

I have a D5100 with the kit lens and I love it. Will be posting here more in the next future as I've been neglecting it lately.

Look forward to seeing your efforts... would be nice to get some more shutterbugs in here. :)

Typical. 8)

I would have thought the sort of people buying a kit like that would be thrilled & quick to leave feedback. Unless of course it was bought for refurbishment & resale... had a couple of my sales of various items going to shops.

My thoughts exactly. I even sent a nice fluffy email to the guy hoping that he'd give it a good home and look after it, and that it was a reluctant sale, etc. etc. but I haven't heard a word back. The guy got a fucking great deal too. :p

I know the transaction was performed to clinical precision, but for some items you expect a bit more humanity.

Maybe it arrived in a million pieces. ;)

The fall colors are upon us here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This tree in my apartment complex is really showing off this year.

Well, if you insist, mate. I found a 'botanical garden' smack dab in middle of the city. Next to a major airport, no less! Figured that would be a good time to brush off the ol' DSLR. Too many hobbies, too little time.

Too lazy to upload more than one. :)

I have been doing lots of walking lately and a couple of times went back to take photos. Borrowed my mums little point and shoot Nikon for a while but I must get myself a good camera soon.

I've found dozens of Cymbidiums in flower at the moment and got a few good shots :)

Only had a moment to frame this one because the vape trail was dissipating so quickly...

I have no idea about editing, these aren't even cropped. But I am keen to start learning more. I want to take photos of plants to help me remember their names and have as a resource to use. I started filing them yesterday :)

Klue, it must have a good zoom for a point and shoot! That top photo is wonderful--so clear.

Thank you! It's a good little camera, and cost a couple of hundred dollars. Kookaburras aren't too shy, zoomed in, but it was pretty close. We have a different one that comes and visits my place.

My retro camera, but to illustrate the point :)

I love the framing on this shot... really like how those fronds or whatever draw your eyes to the rest of the photo!

I could comment on a photo from everyone but I won't... suffice to say, lovley shots all. :)

Bearlove linked a photo in EADD taken off the ground, so when I wanted to get some of the Autumn colour in a shot, I decided to give it a go. I missed the opportunity of a similar shot with leaves on our driveway as the sun was setting but..

This is of Lawson Cypress needles on the ground as the sun was coming up in the morning:

Here are a few pictures I took at the Cleveland Indians' home opener against Detroit this weekend. Yay! Baseball is back!

That looks like a pretty sweet compact... very much designed like a DLSR in it's layout too. Probably not surprising considering it's a Canon. 12.1 MP... amazing how high MPs are becoming on cameras these days.

Hello, are you from the past? :D

My Canon 450D from 2008 is 12MP.

Hey Max! All those pictures were taken with a 55-300m f/4.5. Nothing spectacular, but I wandered the stands for some better angles. And truthfully (not that you probably don't already know this) an f-stop of 4.5 is perfectly fine on a nice sunny day. :)

I now have a iPhone 5 c in place of my Nikon cool pix 5200. Is my phone good for hosting pics on others pc screen? I don't have a pc rite now

Well, my iPhone 4S takes pretty fucking amazing photos for a phone, so I suspect yours will be even better. Yes.

I can't remember which Olympics it was (either 2010 Vancouver or 2012 London) where there was a photographer who did all his/her shots solely with their iPhone. They actually got some REALLY cool shots. Mind you, they had a press pass, as they were a legitimate photo journalist, but nonetheless... the iPhone camera was well sufficient. I wish I could remember the name.

I just picked up a 35mm f1.8 and will probably be picking up a 50mm f1.4 within the next few weeks, so I'll probably have some more shit to share in the near future. As much as I love my 50mm f1.8, the focal length prevents me from getting some shots that I'd really like to catch during concerts and the like, hence the reason I grabbed a 35mm, today. The 35 will be far better for at least ONE concert venue that I love (and have always used my 50mm for). I'm pretty damn hard for that 1.4 lens, though. ?

^ Keep sharing mate, your photography is terrific.

I have never really taken photos in anything but auto. I want to learn how to use my new camera to it's full extent and am gradually learning. The last few times I have taken photos I have used the aperture priority setting and taken a few that I think are good. I haven't read much about ISO, that's the next thing on the list to learn about.
