Biggest XTC-lab to date dismantled in Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland

Hey guys, just read an article in my newspaper and wanted to share this with you.

Belgian police (my country) has just dismantled what they believe to be the biggest XTC lab in Europe. They have done house searches in Belgium, Poland, Turkey and the Netherlands. Arrested 14 people worldwide and (hold on to your pants) confiscated 1000 Kilo's of pure MDMA, 18.5 TONNES OF SAFROL OIL. That's insane.

I really hope it's not one of the top dutch pressers (androids, nintendo's, MK's, Partyflocks,...). I am hoping it's not because all the leaders of the organization are Polish and I would suspect those top pressers to be dutch (or I am hoping they are...).

Belgian Police Report $1.75-Billion Drug Bust

A three-nation investigation led to one of the biggest seizures of synthetic drugs in Europe, a haul of products to create Ecstasy pills with a street value of 1.3 billion euros ($1.75 billion), the Belgian prosecutor's office said Friday.

After 30 raids in Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland, 11 people were under arrest charged with possession, production and trading in drugs as part of a criminal gang, it said.

"It is the biggest such bust ever in Belgium and one of the largest in Europe," Wenke Roggen, spokeswoman for the federal prosecutor's office, said. "It is quite incredible."

Products seized included about 1,000 kilograms of MDMA and 18.5 tons of Ecstasy precursor safrole, Roggen said. The criminal organization was made up of people with Belgian, Polish and Turkish nationality, Roggen said.

Most of the products were discovered in a suburban Brussels garage and in southern farmland around the city of Chimay, where men in biohazard suits were still working on the cleanup operation on Friday. Products were also found at an undisclosed location in the Netherlands.

"It is a shock that our region was at the center of such an important production of illegal products," Chimay mayor Francoise Fassieux said.

Authorities had to evacuate some people around the area of the plant where the drugs were produced, Fassieux said.

Holy shit- that's one bigass bust! A TONNE of MDMA seized!? 1.5 TONNE OF SAFROL? Holy shit!

I wonder how much of a distortion in the market this is gonna cause- regardless of how much effect it really has I imagine a lot of people in Europe are going to experience price increases 'because of the big bust'.

I don't think we're going to feel it in terms of price (the price has been pretty steady the last few years here and there have been other big busts, though not of this size). But I think we're going to have a decrease in availability and thus more adulterants *sigh*. What worries me is that this is such a big organization that it is very likely they busted one of the few well known Dutch pill pressers... I hope I'm wrong

Wow, think of how many people are gonna lose their income after this.

What a massive waste of time and effort.
 
I really hope this isn't one of the dutch super presses. Even if it is, there will be others to take its place. There always will be.

Thing is though.

They will take away the safrole

Safrole, also known as shikimol, is a phenylpropene. It is a colorless or slightly yellow oily liquid typically extracted from the root-bark or the fruit of sassafras plants in the form of sassafras oil

Which means, that people wanting to produce more mdma will need more safrole, so it means that MORE trees will have to be cut down to make it.
 
^Incorrect, there are numerous intermediates utilized for the synthesis of MDMA. Most involve no trees at all.
 
Ahhh i have a feeling some of this seizure will find its way back to the black market just bc of the pure size.
 
Wow. This news is really depressing. Seriously.

The last time that much safrole was seized in 2009 IIRC (British Columbia, Canada), it caused roughly 3 years of bunk.

I really hope (like others) that it won't affect Dutch mdma production, because they know how to synth some outstanding mdma.

We'll have to wait and see.

Stupid cops have nothing better to do it seems.

As if there aren't enough pedophiles, rapists, murderers, forced-sex trade workers, and people selling organs, explosives, etc.

Luckily they aren't the only huge presser around these parts so I'm hoping the other pressers still have ample supply...
 
Ro4eva -- what ever happened with that bust in BC? Seems like BC is still living in a drought... There's stuff to go around, but it's not mdma...
