Punk Fuckin Rock

I've always loved punk offshoots ("grunge," post-punk, art-punk, etc.) for a long time, it's almost all I listen to, but have only just been getting into the grit and finding myself overwhelmed with where to start. Can anyone recommend some advice on some bands based on what my type seems like? It'd be appreciated

As far as some of what I've heard extensively, Sex Pistols is a staple. Bad Brains is absolutely incredible, but other hardcore punk bands get boring to me. Flipper is fantastic too, so I am open to middle-finger-to-the-face types as well. sXe like Minor Threat and SSD are pretty good too. Don't like Crass or Black Flag really. That's mostly it for the most part.

crass

of you who don't "like Crass" fucking suck
one of the best girl punk albums ever

That's a pretty wide margin.

Butthole Surfers are p. obvious if you like Flipper
Cult Ritual make good experimental, noisy hardcore and cover Sonic Youth
Stiff Little Fingers put out classic snotty punk
Same goes for The BUzzcoks
I'm sure you're already into Wire
What about the Minutemen?

There's tons and tons of punk of all different types... maybe being a bit more specific would help.

where is the fucking broads in this thread?

girls make punk rock too

I'm a chick, and I love punk rock! My all time fave band all genres is the Clash, I even have a Clash tattoo! And I think the best album all genres is the Clash's 'Sandinista'. They really showed their versatility on that album. They were so much more then just a punk band, they could do many dif genres well.

I love absolutely love CRASS!
you like flux of pink indians?
rudi peni maybe?
I like crust and grind as well.
but nothing beats old school anarcho, ftw!

.
Lifetime
minute men
Wire
Dag Nasty
minor threat
stiff little fingers...
1.6

nothing beats 80's hardcore.
Sheer Terror and Urban Waste have special places in my palpatating heart...
The only thng I find NY to be a useful place for.

I love Black Flag, Minor Threat and old school stuff. None of this trendy conforming stuff that is around. Its like totally opposite of what bands like black flag were about, now its just these super melodic and hip stuff that has the most annoying singing style i ever heard like simple plan or something, I'll always like the old school. I think punk is stillalive for many people but its not so much potraying your inner self in image but having the mentality. And i Think one of the most punkest bands that aint punk is Napalm Death all their just very faster and heavy dirty version of punk if youlike theold school 80's 'real' hardcore check out Scum and From Enlavement To Obliteration and read the lyrics

Of course I listen to punk! I think that is why I like dnb so much because it pushes similar pleasure buttons.

Best punk albums.

Nofx - Punk in Dublic

Operation Ivy - Energy

The Suicide Machines - Destruction by Definition

When did punk rock become so safe? When did the scene become a joke?

The kids who use to live for beer and speed now want their fries and coke.

I'm more into Punk that ended up becoming Grunge music. You know, mid to late 80's type of Punk.

Younger and younger kids are getting into the scene without being questioned.
anyone can find underground punk rock cuz of the internet now.
It's a double edged sword.
But there's no fucking doubt there are still many holding it down for what it is.
Ppl who arent afraid to pit like fucking men and not bring drama into the scene.
They've become harder to find, but have not dissappeared...

pretty much impossible to find nowadays.

a lot of the music is shit but its still good energy and fun to sing along. i generally cycle through bad religion, nofx, adolescents, descendents, TSOL, FEAR, D.I. (not D.R.I.)

and its all so different. so many styles and sounds. i personally like the early stuff no matter what band. always has a raw sound which is great with punk.

punk is all i listen to anyway.

and yeah, greg graffin is probably my favorite musician of all time. has a great voice, awesome lyrics with meaning, professor at UCLA, just finished writing a book (actually about something, not the band)
