American top gear does suck. Why we couldn't just watch the original is beyond me.

I bet the american version isn't syndicated in britain. When I last visited my parents, I filled up the dvr with top gear and (accidentaly) erased everything else. My visit happened to coincide with a marathon. Fuck yeah.

They always show great cars, but don't your guys' emission standards take any fun/ power out of a car?

I have a WRX with all the cats pulled out of the exhaust system... and registered where there will never, ever, ever, be emissions tests required. Suck on that eurozone pussies.

We don't live in the eurozone... we also tend not to think that the avoidance of senselessly poisoning the planet is particularly effeminate...

well it is.

I've always liked that you guys don't do the euro thing. That was more addressed to our more effiminate bluelight brothers in, say, Norvege.

anyways, what is your countries stance on emissions, and do cars generally suck because of it? I once test drove a fiat that didn't even have 100hp. how can you justify that?

Ha, Norway's not in the eurozone either. Third time's a charm, eh?

It's called the Kyoto Protocol, and pretty much every country in the world has signed it. "Sucking" is kind of a subjective quality, but they adequately transport you from A to B.

Because you want a vehicle, not an amusement park ride/prosthesis.

how can we justify you getting a test drive in one of these?

no idea man, but it must have been pretty obvious that it wasn't gonna be a sports car.

speaking of which, Fiat Group also own Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo, amongst others. so you guys can keep your pickup trucks, we're still OK for nice cars. ;)

We're? That's an Italian corporation no? I think you guys do just fine with Aston Martin though.

FTR I'd prefer an amusement park ride on wheels to a car that's just a vehicle. On another note pick-ups are mostly a down south thing or for people who use them for work. If you're driving around a 8 mpg full sized truck for no reason in this day and age then you're an idiot here too.

um... how about Turkey? lulz.

Sometimes I just like to drive 160 miles an hour. excessive? yeah, probably.

The fiat was marketed to me as a "sporty" car. I consider "sporty" fast. My car is a "sporty" car. An Aston Martin is a sports car. Huuuge difference.

I always trip out that you guys can get codeine otc. fuuuck. I want.

That's scary fast man. The fastest I go is 130 on the way to Montreal. Good way to make it through the whole state of Vermont.

I rarely get to open it up like that, but you get the point... Driving around the salt flats was so rad, though. Doing huuuuge 360's and powerslides goin like 80... incredible.

I got pulled a couple weeks ago doing 93 in a 65. luckily I got a ticket for only 89, so I didn't go directly to jail.

hah, by "we", I meant us "eurozone pussies". :p

my car only gets about 18mpg, you americans would be proud. it's japanese though.

btw, Aston Martin are owned by Ford, so they aren't technically a British company any more. but they always will be in spirit!

some pickups look decent though..

True. I do like some trucks and as far as smaller trucks like Tacomas and shit it doesn't really make a difference gas wise but, I know people that drive dualies and super lifted f350s and shit "just because". If you're driving something that gets around 10mpg gallon then you're either rich, and idiot or a rich idiot.

Those trucks scream that the driver is 4' tall with a Napoleon complex. They aren't particularly fast and they don't handle well. They just swill gas for no good reason. I just don't get the appeal.

^ Here in south Georgia, so many guys and girls drive big trucks like that. I wouldn't say that the majority of people drive trucks like that, but the majority of people under 25 that have a truck, have one lifted up. Normally, the bigger and nicer the truck, the more of a douchebag driving it.

My wife just got back from Chicago and is now complaining I am too skinny compared to all you beefy americans...
