deficiT's bible study

I believe it's also supposed to parallel the 40 years the Israelites spent in the wilderness when they left Egypt.

Yeah I just found it interesting that it was the “Spirit” who led him there. My catholic upbringing recognizes this as part of the trinity, so I found it notable that it was essentially god that led him there

love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Luke 10:27). If we truly loved one another and God in the way He decrees, we can live a life in harmony with others as it says in Romans 12:16. Much of the hatred and violence we see in the world stems from a disobedience of this one crucial commandment of God

I totally agree. And in the 60's we saw how psychedelics made this message known. People were protesting war and putting flowers in guns because the main central message was Love.

If you do not like the word God just use the word Nature of Mother Nature.

I do try and understand where the illusion of duality comes into play. Like Bob Marley said separating people based off the color of their skin is like separating them for the color of their eyes. But what I don't understand is some people do not care what happens to you or your kid. But they certainly care what happens to themselves, but as it is the neighbors kid they do not care. How can we not just put ourselves in another's shoe? How can we not treat evereyone else like they are ourselves?

Simple exercise I do when I get mad at people and want to hurt them. I simply say "thou art thee" . Anything I do to someone else I would be doing to myself. I think that is the way to not leave muddy tracks that we have to clean up on this Earth. Sort of skate through without creating more karma.

1) Psalm 34:1-4 (NIV)

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears."

Lately before consuming any drug i pray that it may contribute to me "praising the lord in all that I do".

jesus on hypersexuality.

I find it's a lot easier to avoid porn and hookup sites when i pray before dosing.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Rom 1:18–22)

Psalm 28
A psalm of David.
1 I pray to you, O Lord, my rock.
Do not turn a deaf ear to me.
For if you are silent,
I might as well give up and die.
2 Listen to my prayer for mercy
as I cry out to you for help,
as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary.

3 Do not drag me away with the wicked—
with those who do evil—
those who speak friendly words to their neighbors
while planning evil in their hearts.
4 Give them the punishment they so richly deserve!
Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness.
Pay them back for all their evil deeds!
Give them a taste of what they have done to others.
5 They care nothing for what the Lord has done
or for what his hands have made.
So he will tear them down,
and they will never be rebuilt!

6 Praise the Lord!
For he has heard my cry for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

8 The Lord gives his people strength.
He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.
9 Save your people!
Bless Israel, your special possession.
Lead them like a shepherd,
and carry them in your arms forever.

The most powerful sentence in the Bible for me.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers
39 nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38, 39 - https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/books/romans/8/

Yes thats good writing, the person its attributed to (paul the apostle), and seems to have actually written by, was a guy who started off killing christians before his conversion. Likely didn't kill christians himself but ordered it to be done.

Its such a strange thing when you think if it, religion. The fairy tale, the human hope for meaning, redemption, to not die. Truth is we are lost in space, the product of an energetic expansion of matter. A byproduct of entropy really. Thats why i like the book of ecclesiastes, it was written by someone like me, stricken with some existential crisis. Actually the reason why ecclesiastes is such an odd ball in the bible is because of its greek existential philosophical origins, they sort of abruptly modify it with a clunky insertion of god at the end of the chapters. It feels sort of contradictory given the the fundamentally greek existential philosophy.

Guys you know Punjabi Sikhs believe Sikhism is the only true faith to use the term God.

Believe it or not Sikhs love to get drunk in a private setting with family and close friends to laugh and ridicule Jews Christians and especially Muslims!

And if you want to hear a whole other take on the Old testament attend a Chinese Bible study group

So much of Philippians 3 and 4 mean so much to me. So much positivity there for someone who had done such horrible things and lived a life of violence and deceit before a profound change that most would say is impossible.

Philippians 3:13, 14: "One thing is certain: Forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead, 14 I am pressing on toward the goal" - https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/b/r1/lp-e/nwtsty/50/3#s=13&study=discover

Young's Literal Translation
"and they shall say to you, Lo, here; or lo, there; ye may not go away, nor follow;"

tells me to keep my eyes on my fries and worship (follow) no human. take ya eyes off ya fries and that little dude gonna come snatch em away.

Ecclesiasties 1:2

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."

On a side note i am a bit of a biblical scholar. Not because i ever believed any of the fairy tale for a moment, but more so out of an appreciation of the poetry and philosophy. Moreso the old testament. The writing is far prettier.
Nailed it second post I wanted to post some Ecclesiastes!

“Hatred is the darkest room in your house. You locked it from the outside with the keys of resentment. Don’t live in there my dear! Break the door with the hammer of forgiveness. Come out, come out and bathe in the light of love.”

We must strive to forgive like jesus did

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:"

Moderation ;)

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

15 Whatever is has already been,
and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account.[b]

16 And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

17 I said to myself,

“God will bring into judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time to judge every deed.”

18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

"Darkness can not be overcome by darkness...only light can do that. Hate can not be overcome by hate...only love can do that."

MLK♥️♥️♥️♥️

When we begin contemplating how we can love those who have hurt us...that's when true magic occurs...imo anyways lol

Vengeance and resentment are extremely toxic

My Faith was stripped from me 5 years ago. I no longer believe in the bible nor God for that matter due to severe trauma resulting in mental health issues that I have to deal with for the rest of my life.... I did nothing wrong to deserve that....
