The vagabond who's rapping at your door, standing
who sang this ? (probably wrote it too). Fuck me, at 42 Im finally beginning to 'get' something out of poetry, i believe the below should be called such.. This is genius to me.

And so the story goes
They wore the clothes
They said the things
To make it seem improbable
The whale of a lie
Like they hope it was
And the good men of tomorrow
Had their feet in the wallow
And their heads of brawn
Were nicer shorn
And how they bought their positions with saccharin and trust
And the world was asleep
To our latent fuss
Sighing, the swirl through the streets
Like the crust of the sun
The Bewlay Brothers
In our wings that bark
Flashing teeth of brass
Standing tall in the dark
Oh, and we were gone
Hanging out with your dwarf men
We were so turned on
By your lack of conclusions

I was stone and he was wax
So he could scream,
And still relax, unbelievable
And we frightened the small children away
And our talk was old
And dust would flow
Through our veins and lo!
It was midnight
Back o' the kitchen door
Like the grim face
On the Cathedral floor
And the solid book we wrote
Cannot be found today

And it was Stalking time
For the Moonboys
The Bewlay Brothers
With our backs on the arch
In the Devil-may-be-here
But he can't sing about that
Oh, and we were gone
Real cool traders
We were so turned on
You thought we were fakers
Now the dress is hung,
The ticket pawned
The factor max that proved the fact
Is melted down
And woven on the edging of my pillow
Now my Brother lays upon the Rocks
He could be dead, he could be not
He could be you
He's Camelian, Comedian, Corinthian and Caricature
"Shooting-up Pie-in-the-Sky"
The Bewlay Brothers
In the feeble and the bad
The Bewlay Brothers
In the blessed and cold
In the crutch-hungry dark
Was where we flayed our mark
Oh, and we were gone
Kings of oblivion
We were so turned on
In the mind-warp pavilion

Lay me place and bake me pie
I'm starving for me gravy
Leave my shoes, and door unlocked
I might just slip away
Just for the day, hey!
Please come away, hey! [repeat ad inf.] (getting trippier and trippier ad inf)

The only clue is that this persons lyrics are obviously up there with the very best of the best.
Whoever gets it, can pick the next section of lyrics.

Nice 1. Mine too. Top ten of all time they say. I agree with that.

its hard to say what my fave track is: changes, pretty things, life on mars, kooks, quicksand, andy warhol, queen bitch.

Depends on mood but the thrumming acoustic guitars on andy warhol have me sectioned if any one saw me pretending to be one of the band. Queen bitch if youve got a bit more steam to let off.

How did Bowie just kind of fall of the face of the earth with all his genius and talent. Tragic. Now we have new direction.

Your go, if you wish, Mr S.

We had a thread similar to this not long back. I wasn't very good at it. Tend to just post whatever I'm listening to at the time whilst drunk. I did mention Bowie as being a big lyrical hero of mine though. First album I ever possessed was Space Oddity. That and Star Wars & Other Galactic Funk. The latter has no lyrics. But was damnably funky =D

I <3 Bowie. Although not all of his stuff is true genius. That 70s period was pure magic though <3

Well, who needs girls?
I don't need girls

Well, who needs girls?
We don't need girls

They're the stupidest thing
In the whole wide world

Much wisdom. ;)

ive got and like Space Oddity, and he released a few ace singles later on "China Girl" etc. To my shame i havent ventured very far into his enormous discography. Sounds like i got lucky and started with the best 1.

^ Any song that Msyhkin posts has a fairly high likelihood of being by the Ramones so always worth a punt :D

Enormous discography is correct. All of his 70s albums are pure gold. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite from them. Depends on mood. Not a huge fan of his 80s stuff but has grown on me. I grew up in the 80s so have an inbuilt aversion to 80s music. 90s were a bit iffy but some good stuff in there. I liked the Black Tie/White Noise album. Not really listened to much of his stuff from this millenium to be honest. Have heard his latest one is good though. But 70s era is unbeatable <3

" for the shit that she does give her a drum roll because the dumb bitch licks out the ass hole"
"She'll let you video tape her and if you've got a gang of n#gg#z the bitch will let you rape her"

Grew up listening to this lol............(sorry to lower the tone)

cheers fella, on that recomendation i shall delve a little deeper. Apart from Sapace Oddity and Hunky Dory what would you have next, if you could only have 3 of his albums on your desert island complete with music centre and power source.

Forgot to mention

ASHES TO ASHES

how could I. What a track !!!!

I'll tell you my story
The treachery it bores me
Carl and McGee both promised me
It would not happen this way
Carl is kept sedated
The frontman elevated
And McGee doing all he can to ruin my band
And keep me out the way

In this industry of fools
Musclemen and ghouls
If you're not a puppet or a muppet
Then you might as well call it a day-ayay

The truth here gets distorted
The wall scrapings get snorted
I'm welcome back if I give up crack
But you gave me my first pipe anyway

Can't show no decorum

Ziggy Stardust (and/or the live version)
Aladdin Sane
Diamond Dogs

Kindasorta a trilogy anyway.

Or if you fancy the more experimental end go for the other 70s "trilogy" of Low, "Heroes" and Lodger that he colloborated with Brian Eno on.

So the Harlem punk/new wave scene ?. Eebegebees or w/ and all that ? i can only think of the ramones and blondie, Will people have heard of the band when u tell us ?

He was from Queens, he was in two hip bands, he rocked like fuck and he was very 'troubled'.
