Your favorite subgenre of metal and what it says about you

i was listening to napalm death's scum peaking on acid and a bunch of random underground goregrind a few years back... i listen to that stuff sometimes..i also like nu metal from the FM rock radio and classic metal. ozzy is cool.... idk... i'm not even the biggest metal fan, but i listen to all of it... i like death metal and goregrind stuff cause it reminds me of growling dogs or random killer birds with the vocals... i actually kind of hate how goregrind is into like surgery, and eating people, but whatever i tend to ignore that.... i really like the vocals in cock and ball torture. lol. makes me actually want to listen to that. i'm just chilling out to some random acoustic you tubers at the moment. lol.


my play list and attitude towards metal is just a poser from hipsters that go to colleges like harvard and cornell... when i talk about all random bands from genres i listen to people on reddit sometimes comment how it sounds like i'm a liberal hipster from cornell. i never went to college. my taste for indie rock, underground hip hop, and then like random metal and hardcore i listen to ends up on a lot of the same people's playlists, not sure if it's cause it's just hipster shit or actually good music. i think it's a combo. lol

You enjoy your horror movies to be soft torture porn that makes other's physically ill, but that's alright, because you're alcohol of choice does too. You've been working at the same place since high school, probably as a dishwasher and you love it there. You've had a stable years long relationship with your girlfriend. How's that so far?

You're father got you into his favorite bands when you were growing up. You have a love-hate relationship with Metallica, either being a Dave Mustaine stan or you despise him. You're considered one of the boys at local bars. You're favorite beer is either PBR draft or Miller Genuine Draft. You smoke Marlboro Red 100s religiously. And I can tell you're a seasoned veteran of the pit.

You've had you're fair share of wake up throughout you're musical journey, but no judgement here. It helps pass the ten minute long guitar solo during the twenty minute song. While you're deep appreciation for other genres is uniquely welcomed, you will go to war for Maynard.
 
I began my metal journey with AC/DC.

I quickly progressed to metallica, megadeth and slayer.

From there moved on to coroner, napalm death, carcass.

Now many years later my favourite sub genre would be prog, particularly djent, however I will also occasionally listen to fleshgod apocalypse and others in the extreme metal sub genre, overall though I don't really like growls, much prefer clean melodic vocal with the occasional growl/scream for emphasis.

My dad haaaaates metal, he calls it "DIE DIE DIE FUCK YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU" music lol. When I got into hardcore I tried to explain how positive a lot of the lyrics were, but he wasn't having it. He does have good taste in music, just not metal.

True, but I have no feelings either way towards Mustaine, I just get tired of hearing the same songs on the rock station all the time. But who can deny that Seek and Destroy is a fuckin banger, and everything up till like the Black album rips.

One of the boys definitely, but I do have a good group of girl friends. I do High Life if I drink beer, PBR makes everyone fart. I'm big on tequila though. Used to do 100's when I was young and broke, because I could refry them and convince myself it was like two in one cigarettes. And fuck yeah I'm a pit veteran, however I'm old now so I just do the edge of the pit so I can watch the kids get into it and help people up and do a little bit of pushing.

All in all you're pretty damn close dude!
