“Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.”

these few have/are helped/ing me recently through some troubling times,

"Everyone hears only what he understands."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain but it takes character and self control to be understanding and forgiving."

"The reality of the other person is not in what he reveals to you, but in what he cannot reveal to you. Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he says but rather what he does not say."
Kahlil Gibran

and im sure this has made an appearance in this thread already
"
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

" When you look back on your life you will regret the things you didn't do more than those you did. Live your life to the fullest." This is the quote that I live by... I'm very much a drifter and haven't found where I want to settle by any means.

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it, because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

- hunter s thompson.

"And if it's not a rapper that I make it as...
Then I'll be a fucking rapist in a jason mask" - eminem

Life is too serious... I like eminem's older playful lyrics ;)

I'm really liking the quotes people have posted recently - I want to add that since it's the holiday season if anyone has any seasonal quotes to share they are more than welcome ;) I personally don't have any [or many] seasonal quotes saved so any would be appreciated.

“Women always worry about the things that men forget; men always worry about the things women remember”

^haha :)

“The greatest ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about”

“If you think education is expensive, try ignorance” ~Derek Bok

“There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Love binds the very fabric of space and time. It is all encompassing. You simply LOVE until you and the beloved become one.

And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost" -Sting/Shape of my heart

"Bad people don't sing." A Gypsy Proverb

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” ~Epicurus

Jebus DP, I think youve quoted Epicurius a bit on this thread and I am an Epicurian(kinda!;)) Thanks for quoting him! :D. Funny that it is associated with Gluttony, when it is all about balance and healthy discipline.

Yeah, when I find some good quotes I usually go after the writer [or whomever] wrote the quote(s) and try to do some research on some more.

My head is full with quotes - I mean... look at this thread! lol ;)

Anyway, I want to wish you all a happy new year and to kick it off I have some good quotes I'd like to share...

“If you only do what you know you can do- you never do very much.” ~Tom Krause

“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence” ~Aristotle

“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
