Your Fav. Non-Drug Drug related thing

my friend mark once described this as "the biggest piece of drug paraphernalia". it's definitely my favourite.

our burning man theme camp - a 40' long tunnel filled with lights:

beside it, a 40' diameter, frequency 5 geodesic dome filled with uv light and psytrance:

1. listening to dark and liquid dnb, listening to other forms of music I like-breakz,house and techno

2. dancing to the above

3. exercise

things that I like to do that don't give me a high

4. hanging out with friends

5. going shopping

I'm pathetic since the only thing that comes close to how I feel when I'm fucked up is #1 and #2 on my list

I get SO high from playing football (soccer)! Like ridiculously so. The most amazing physical buzz I've ever experienced except maaaaaybe, MDMA.

My vision even goes all weird and focused.....kinda tunnel vision actually....but not quite.

It's pretty intense. Love that sport.

Music can also "fuck me up" quite well enough on its own. Especially when I'm listening to it as I'm drifting in and out of sleep.

I was once listening to psytrance at a pretty high volume and fell asleep. (Or did I?) Upon waking up, I felt incredibly confused and disoriented and anxious as fuck. It was a mini trip in and of its self.

Oh true. Skiing's pretty intense as well...not as much as football though, for me anyway.

And smoking! Yum. I actually quite enjoy smoking rather than feeling like I'm hooked on something nasty (which I do realise it is). Everyone keeps asking me when I'll be quitting and I just tell them I enjoy it so....well, not now.

mmmmm...Belmont

+1 for cliched love.
Also skiing, and the feeling you get when you're working on something you care about and you just get really, really get into the groove of it.
And golf.

Hiking would be #1 for me followed by other forms of exercise. The feeling you have the next few days after a 15-25 mile hile is sort of like a stimulant drug but feels extremely natural. There is also definite mood improvement and relaxation after the hike due both to exercise and sunlight exposure.

About a year ago I got up at 3AM and took long hikes about 10 times (+ more hikes waking at normal times). I was not taking stimulants at the time. It's also a lot of fun driving to and from the trailhead because you feel really revved up.

One time hiking partway down the Grand Canyon and back very vigorously I felt like I had taken some opioids afterwards and enjoyed the sunset more than unusual. Srrprisingly, hiking almost never makes me feel quite this way but Cross-Trainer or treadmill use sometimes has. A few times I did 2 hours on a Cross-Trainer(2200+ calories).

In 2004 I got the idea that doing a really fast and difficult backpacking trip would make me feel really good. I way overdid it though and went 10 miles the first full day (carrying 45 pounds), 20 the next, then threw my food up the next morning but hiked another 14 miles anyway. However it was the only time in a few years where I got to sleep without significant amounts of sedating drugs (20mg Geodon was all I had).

Example: I love to take a hot bath and listen to some nice and relaxing music. Not to mention, that makes my whole body feel comfortably warm and numb, and just relaxes oh so well. The state i get in when i am in the tub is not unlike some opium. Relaxed Tranquility.

I used to enjoy hot baths more in the past and took some that were 110-115 degrees. Also I would put my legs up against the wall and found this to be much more relaxing. 12 minutes in a very hot bath was about all I could withstand. Sometimes I would get up quickly and stretch to the ceiling afterwards which would make me feel numb and lightheaded, hear tingling noises, and sometimes pass out. I wouldn't compare baths to opioids myself but in 9th grade I got into taking baths after taking opioids and it was very relaxing. It increases the risk of orthostatic hypotension and syncope however (NTM it would be dangerous if you were in an extremely sedated state of narcosis).
