Young Buds

I asked a friend of mine after seeing this thread as I was curious and this was his response:

"Well the way i'd do it, which everyone sees as a bit controvesial because you have to let the plant die, is to leave some newspaper under a plant thats been growing 8+ months and wait for the first bud to fall by itself. Once that happens you know the plant is at its peak of life and from there the plant will die. Its the best way because then you know that the plant has given all it can to the buds without letting the buds start dying"

Im no expert myself, but this seems like a good answer tbh.

never heard of that ,,,,
i wouldnt let my girls die after all the care and work i gave them to grow. its all up to persoal preference realy id harvest when the tichromes are atleast 80% amber or if you dont have a microscope , 70-80% red hairs.

Yeah, the deep vibrant colors of the hairs are usually an indicator that it's time to start harvesting.

Also, letting the plant die is a waste. You could surely get another harvest.

yea when the hairs first come out they were white on the plant i saw. when they run brownish nd become skunky smelling its time to harvest.

when the Trich's achieve desired colors it is time to havest. I would prefer 70% milky & 30% amber, mmhmmm good!

Also, the hairs should no longer be white.

depends what you want. if more of the hairs are amber i find its more of a knock-out stone, where is mostly milky its a more clear, sativa type high.

i go by trichs too, it's useful to have a good eye loupe :) can just pick off a nug and inspect it under a bright light. here's a good guide:

The more amber the more stoney the high.

Go and get a microscope lens with a 10X or 20X magnification. They work great.

You can find them at educational toy stores.

sorry but thats just weird dude. Im glad to hear others break out the jewelers loop(the higher magnification the better) on those bitches.

personally id harvest when the plants are at there ripest , im not saying that cloudy trichromes dont produce a more sativa type high , but why lose a fair bit of bud by harvesting early when if you want a sativa high, grow a sativa and harvest when at its fullest.

How the plant was grown does more to the effect than the strain, but both do play a role. As does how it was cured, how it's stored, and how old it is.

i get it

resin glands turn amber while budmass peaks

i wonder if there is an indica that produces enough mass while its resin glands are still milky

i assume it'd be an indica with mainly a head high
