I struggle to remember what life was like,
Before you came along.
My mind was filled with endless wanderings,
And demons from the past.
I try to remember physical encounters,

Meaningless fumblings in the dark,
Long empty relationships based on vast nothingness.
I try to recall parties and laughing,

I was drowning in a sea of booze and niceties,
That left me drained and sad as the sun rose the next day.
Why do I spend time pondering life,

In order to appreciate how it is today.
Since you came along, first as my friend,

Every sunset is beautiful and every party with you is truly wonderful.
Every word is meaningful and every touch intense.
You are the song in my heart and the inspiration in my soul. You loved me when I was drowning. You waited patiently as I ran away. You held me when I cried. You listened as I ranted. You were interested in my dreams. You smiled at my childish tantrums. You laughed at my ridiculous jokes. You see my faults as nothing more than a small freckle on the face of love.
What did I do, before you came along? I feel I have known you forever. Perhaps my soul has.
