Yesterday’s Paper
The man folded the paper in half so that the face on the front page no longer stared at him. No longer desirable, the paper he bought and never read was dumped onto the pavement and forever out of his life. The man wasted the brilliant quips, sharp opinions, inspired thoughts and heartfelt stories in the paper of Yesterday. Even though it carried words and feelings like him he could not bring himself to read it. In his loneliest moments, the Paper cried out to him, “Read me! Read me! I maybe just a memory today but I am still something. I still happened. Don’t leave me.” Like a burnt out cigarette the Man threw the paper into the wind. The paper lay ripped apart on the pavement weeping, “How can you leave me, I was made for you.”
