:( hey guys ive been takin a break from E for like almost 2 yrs now i've use to use heavily with friends. so i started using again like a month ago but for some reason not as much fun as it use to be i thinkin maybe it's just time to hang up E using but i miss the fun that it use to bring.

Research has shown that former heavy users, even after 2 and a half years of abstinence - still did not display the same neuro-endocrine response as new users.

Typically, a new user will experience a massive increase of cortisol, followed by a release of oxytocin/prolactin.

In former heavy users, the cortisol release is still seen, but the prolactin response was greatly reduced.

To date, this is among the most definitive evidence that MDMA causes long-term/permanent alterations to the 5-HT network.
This is the connection between your intestines and your brain.

In particular, the prefrontal cortex seems to be the most vulnerable to this damage. This is because it is the farthest from the brainstem and it contains fiber-like 5-HT extensions.

This is the region of the brain that associated with higher thinking AND the primary reward pathway. The 'meso-limbic reward pathway' runs from the PFC all the way to the limbic system. This pathway is targeted by MDMA, as well as all drugs.

You have permanently down-regulated your serotonin receptors in this region of the brain. Animal and human research shows that re-growth will only be partial and abnormal.

This sucks, doesn't it?
I have used less than 30 tabs lifetime, and I fear that I will never regain the magic either.

Recommendations:

Lots of time.
Add another two years, buddy.
Many former heavy users of MDMA take two years just to normalize.
If you had depression/anxiety for a while, you have no business rolling just because you recently felt better. You need to give it much more time.

I read an account of someone that lost the magic even after 3 years of abstinence.
Then, after 7 years, they tried it again and they were ecstatic to report their roll.

The brain does not recover in the time-frame that we experience life in.
12-24 months is minimum for recovery time.

AFTER you have given yourself more time to re-establish these distant connections....

Try Piracetam.
A large dose 4 hours before your roll seems to be very effective.
It increases the permeability of cellular membranes in the brain, making serotonin and other neurotransmitters more available.
Do not take it with your tabs - it can eliminate the euphoria. Taken well before-hand, it seems to bring back the magic to those that have lost it.
The fact that it works this way is further evidence that 5-HT damage has occurred. I do not recommend using more often just because you found an effective companion.

St. John's Wort may have the ability to improve innervation in the PFC, but it is poorly understood due to its complex interactions with multiple neurotransmitter systems. It also poses the risk of serotonin syndrome, a serious and possibly fatal condition. It does not mix with MDMA or a great number of other drugs/prescriptions. However, it may be worth a try.

The only other way to modify your brain is to exercise regularly.
This will increase the number of capillaries in the brain and it increases a protein known as BDNF. This will stimulate the release of stem cells into a few key areas.
Tumeric extract, combined with black pepper, is rumored to help re-growth of nerves in the brain as well.

This is all I got. :\

^^good post:)

another thing is that maybe he just got a crap pill? OP are you aware of the declining quality of ecstasy?

if he was rolling 2 years ago when there were better pills then maybe hes just used to a more intense high. are you on any other types of medication?
