I'd love to hear some experiences with it. I HAVE to switch from this generic Klonopin sugar pill Im currently on.

One thing I'll say without knowing exactly what the OP wants to know is that I definitely would not recommend anyone taking Xanax for an extended period of time... At least not daily. I'm basically physically addicted and if I ever want to get off I would be looking at a very long taper. Looking back my doctor was kind of stupid for prescribing it to me long term.

Couldn't agree more. My doctor had me on Xanax for ten years and then forced to stop cold turkey. Went through two years off hell and am still healing...it's been six years since I took my last benzo. I wouldn't wish a long term sript for Xanax on my worst enemy.

Couldn't agree more. It's my favourite benzo but I have a love/hate relationship with Benzos and have been tapering for 3 years this time around. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I was on Xanax for 10 years and switched to Klonopin with no problem. It just does absolutely nothing. Xanax worked wonderful.

The only reason I came off IR Xanax at all was because I'm on a lot of pain medicine and my pain Doctor was worried about respiratory depression. My pdoc(psych Doctor) is a Xanax nazi and was more than thrilled to switch me to Klonopin. I wanted the Xanax XR but she told me that my insurance didn't cover it. I just found out that was a LIE.

What is the difference between one Benzo and another when it comes to respitory depression? Like why is klonopin any better than xanax? Most drs don't like xanax because it's so widely abused (as are most benzos but you seem to hear the most about xanax in the media etc.). Im also on a high dose of opiatess and small dose of Benzos now (20mg diazepam) but was on a lot higher dose with both oxy and now suboxone.

When I was abusing them all he was concerned about respiratory depression but doesn't seem to be now im on 32mg SUBOXONE.

Imho Xanax XR is pretty much useless for anything. Won't act fast enough for acute panic attacks and when it does start to peak it still doesn't do anything at all due the low dose. Idk why it is even approved for anything.

Alprazolam is a fast acting low half life benzo and making it time released won't make it anything else than same as splitting IR pill into ten parts and taking one part every hour. Would that help anyone?

There are already other cheap benzos that offer long lasting anxiolysis and clonazepam is the best for that use.

After these Xanor XRs (Brand name in here) become approved my doc switched me from clonazepams to these and the only way to get any relief out of them was to show some hammer and use them as normal alprazolams. Luckily he understood that this whole XR thing was a marketing trick to get people buy overpriced time released alprazolam instead of normal generics.

I can't imagine what hell that must have been. I'm not one of those types of people but I think I would seriously be talking to my lawyer if I was ever put in that position.

I knew it was going to be bad but I didn't realize how bad, but I could have stopped at anytime. I voluntarily checked into rehab and knew prior to checking in the they did cold turkey on benzos (really benzo ignorant at the time). Alcohol was rapidly killing me, and this was the only rehab I could get into ASAP. I was to the point in my addiction that I was in the hospital on a weekly basis, and trying to commit suicide every couple of days when I would be in blackout mode. As horrible as it was, it was the lesser of two evils as I really couldn't stop on my own sadly. At any rate, it was worth as I have two years off booze and six years off benzos, and lead a fairly healthy productive life now, so in the end it worked out.

FWIW, I was on Xanax over 10 years with no problem. I didn't even go through withdrawl when I switched to Klonopin. The only time I ever went into withdrawl from Xanax was when I was inpatient and they took me off everything. I felt like I was dying. I got out 9 days later and my pdoc put me right back on it. If just like to try Xanax XR or brand name Klonopin.
