Xanax XR question

I got scripted for Xanax SR or XR 0.5mg.
If I take one 0.5mg, then how long will the sedation kick in as opposed to taking regular Xanax on an empty stomach?
I had taken the regular plain Xanax and that kicked in about 10 minutes.
