xanax withdrawls?

Hey... I know that xanax can have some pretty bad withdrawls. I work at a hospital and have heard about people coming in and having hallucinations from xanax withdrawls. Well one of my friends is getting pretty bad into pill popping, particularly xanax and I dont' think she realizes how addicting they are and what it can do to you. She's just now starting to get really really depressed and I know that it's the xanax doing it to her because she is majory abusing it. I know she wants help because she called me this morning all fucked up and crying saying she hates how she's been feeling lately and she's been taking pills all the time because she's been depressed, and any halfway educated drug user knows that that just adds to depression. Well anyways, I was wondering if any of you knew some more info on xanax addiction/withdrawl... I did a search but nothing came up. I'd just like to have some facts to show her. Any info would help! Thanks a lot!
 
tell your friend to stop now! ive been there... snorting up to 6 xanax bars a night-itll make you a different person. my life has changed (and not for the good) from them. withdrawls arent bad- i never had them except being grumpy and feeling sick.
 
^^^Dont give advice about shit that you obviously know nothing about. Withdrawl from benzos can be fatal.

And of course your not gonna experience any wd from missing one day of your Kpins. See what happens on the third day ;) Well, no dont do that but you see what I'm saying. serious withdrawl doesnt come on that quickly with benzos. It's a takes a few days.
 
man snitch you are just quite the smartee arent cha? ass- i know alot about it.. like he said it can take a very long time to be fatal- the guy said she just started taking them- so maybe you should *read a little better* before you go off making an ass of yourself
 
its so funny that people who think they do alot of drugs are always quick to say that someone is lying or knows nothing about what they are saying
 
Maybe you should read a little better. The poster said that her friend is just now starting to get depressed. She never said how long her friend has been using which is why I asked.
I guess I did act kinda pissy but I am a firm believer that telling someone to "stop using benzos now" is very bad advice and potentially dangerous.
Look! I realize that fatalities from benzos wd, though very possible, are rare. It CAN happen though. I was just describing a worst case scenerio. Regardless though, you should never tell someone to simply stop using xanax or any other benzo cold turkey. If you know anything about benzo addiction you know that this can be quite painful, both mentally and physically, to say the least.
I've been steady addicted to benzos for over a decade now so this post and your reply struck a nerve with me.

oh believe me i to am a firm believer in getting people to stop. i ruined my life. my life with my mother or sister or any good true friends i evr had will never be good again. they ( as well as many many many other drugs can have serious effects on your life!
 
i m bumping it back to the main question from MyStiKxAnGeL420. i have a brother in law who got prescibed all kinds of benzos (diazepam, oxazepam, clorazepine-acid, lorazepam) for 3 months. he actually seemed to like it all fucked up & in a haze, but he is of it now without experiencing withdrawl syptoms. remember he was under medical/psychiatric care during this time.
but i do firmly believe benzos are addictive, as some other relative i know had to go through severe withdrawl after taking it for a very long time. according to her husband an ex_heroin addict (no shit) the symptoms are the worst on the planet!

I've been through Xanax withdrawl before..actually it was just about a month and a half ago that I quit taking them. I started out taking 1-2mg a day in january. Sometimes I'd take more, sometimes less, but 1.5mg was the average dose. In May I decided that I neeeded to stop taking them everyday and took myself off of them. Here's what I went through:
I tapered down as much as I could, but since my daily dosage wasn't very much, I didn't need to do it for too long. I just took 2mg for a few days, then 1.5mg for a few more, then 1mg...well, you get the idea. I went down like that till I ran out. I think I ended at a dose of .5mg.
When I ran out for good I went through about a week of being a total bitch. I was a little shaky, depressed, paranoid, and grouchy. I also couldn't sleep very well. But, things got better after a while.
I hope that helped a little. Withdrawl will be different for your friend depending on things like how longs she's been taking them, her dosage, etc.. I with you both the best.
 
I think people who withdrawl from benzo's are pathetic. there are so many other drugs out ther that you can get hooked on. There is nothing worse then a benzo head. The key to benzo's is moderation. The withdrawl is wicked & takes weeks sometimes...

To start, anyone should know by now that Noriega has no clue as to what he is talking about. Just your basic teenage idiot. Every new post from him shows just how clueless he actually is.
B-zo withdrawal SUCKS. As for whoever said they have been eating like 4 klonopins a day for 8 months and they can stop for a day and be OK. True, BUT K-pins have a long half life (unlike xanax and ativan) and WD's dont hit for a week or two. Once you really stop you will feel the pain.
I speak from experience. I was on various mega doses of long and short term b-zos for about a year. When I stopped I thought I was gonna die. It was THE worst feeling and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, except Nori that is. :o ) WD's lasted about a month and a half for me and definately steared me clear of them forever. Be warned.
