Xanax + Valerian Root: Good Mix?

Hey I was wondering if Valerian Root + Xanax would be a good mix? The Valerian capsules I have are '500mgs Valerian Root Extract (0.8% Valerenic Acids = 4mgs).'

Anyone else try this combo? I just ate 3mgs of alprazolam (xanax) and 2 of the Valerian Root capsules... so we'll see..

so anyone got any info or personal experience with using valerian root in combination with xanax (alprazolam)??

They should compliment/synergize since they work on the same receptor and subtype GABAa. The kava will make the effect even stronger.

Yeah i was thinking they would synergize well together also sense they both work on the same receptors i believe. Im going to try it but im sure it probably won't make much of a difference..we'll see

*BUMP.. SO anyone think that Valerian root + Xanax (or any benzo) would be good to mix together? I usually take valerian root everynight and when i get xanax i take the xanax at night with the Valerian Root Extract capsules too (2grams; 0.8% Valerenic Acids) and it makes me feel good.

I tried it last night and again tonight as i type this. It seems to add just a little something extra to the feelings/effects. I assume this because "Valerian extracts appear to have some affinity for the GABA-A (benzodiazepine) receptor." SO it would make sens that the valerian root would potentionally potentate benzo's. Because benzodizapines like Xanax work on the GABA-A receptor or whatever. so valerian + Xanax = Great feeling.

You guys try taking Valerian Root (extract if available at your GNC/store) with your benzo's sometime and see if you notice any potentiating from the Valerian Root.

Valerian does next to nothing for me, I doubt it would do a whole lot. There would probably be very slight potentiation but honestly I think one beer would do a lot more for your xanax than some valerian.

Valerian root extract will not enhance the effect of xanax noticeably...may make you a little more tired but it will not increase the effect you are looking for. Read the bottle. It says alcohol will increase the side effects. Have 2mg and 2-3 beers and you'll feel lke you took 4 or 5 mg's

I take xanex in the day..valerian -2 at 10 am or 2 pm and 6 pm,,melitonin..cycle 12 miles and go to AA ..don't drink..just don't need it..drank a lot im my 20's..
