I have xanax and was hoping if anyone could tell me how well it has helped them with the night time withdrawls. I only take 7.5-15mg of oxy per day, only at night. I have skipped nights and basically felt the crappy mind wondering, not being able to sleep get comfy or just the need to have to move.

Does anyone know of have experience with first and 2nd night of w/d using xanax to help with the restlessness? for me that is the worst

thanks

Lower the habit the better it works. For your habit it probably gets rid of most if not all symptoms. 0.5-1mg should be plenty.

Thanks....its only been maybe 3 months of taking every night. with occasionally skippign here and there. the insomnia is the worst...it will help with that though? have you had xanax before?

For insomnia its great but will help with other symptoms too. Ive used benzos while coming off stuff and its just that much worse without them. Especially if you have been dosing the opiates mostly at night then insomnia will be your worst problem and thats normal.

To be completely honest you might benefit from OTC loperamide, an anti diarrhea med that is opiate based. It doesnt effectively cross the BBB so it does not get people high but a lot of people benefit from its ability to lessen WD symptoms and your dose is low enough that it may effectively remove all of the WD symptoms and put you in a more "true" sleep. Just an idea as you dont want some poly addiction going on and this will allow you to become more familiar with loperamide and maybe it will save you again in some other situation. Just a thought.

I have read about using that. how much do you take though??

yea, I can deal with the physical things during the day, usually i have found by day 2-3 I am alot better. just need to get past the first 2 nights or so

If I take the .25, and it doesn't feel like its working is it usually ok to take another .25 after an hour or so?

So I took a .25 of xanax at about 830, laid down around 9, I did fall asleep pretty easily, but woke up at 1030. Wasn't sure if this was because I need to use the bathroom or because our daughter woke up. decided to take another one, and it knocked me out till about 3am. This was because the dog woke me lol

Anyway, best part is, there was no insomnia or bad w/d that I had felt at night. Pretty sure it was the xanax that helped since its the only difference that I had made to going to sleep that got me past the w/d insomnia and that crappy "brain racing" type of feeling when I had stopped Oxy.

So to me, it does work. I don't plan on using often, just that if I ever find myself taking again for a few weeks on end I will be able to use the xanax to get through the nights when I stop. I might take tonight just to get another night of better sleep
