Hey all,
This may very well be the dumbest question on BL, but I'm interested to know...
I have around 15 x 1mg of Xanax, but I'm trying to space it out for emergencies when I leave the house, I've had agoraphobia for a while. Benzos and Alcohol are the only thing that "cure" it. Temp of course :(
I took 6 mg yesterday, and yes I was pretty wobbly, but also at peace with no anxiety and just at complete peace.

I'm wondering if Alcohol (Being an anti-anxiety) will speed up the undo tolerance of the Xanax. This might sound crazy, but they both get rid of Anxiety.
I don't plan to binge drink alcohol, because I'm getting too old for that, and I also have to meet my mother in 2 days for a meal.
I NEVER leave the house on a hangover, I just can't do it. I get a sense of severe anxiety, far more than usual.

All advice is much appreciated, I'm sorry for sounding stupid.
Kind Regards,
L

I don't understand your question. What do you mean by "undo tolerance" or "reduce tolerance"? Alcohol will not reduce tolerance to benzos under any circumstance, it will only ever increase tolerance.

Are you asking if you can use alcohol instead of xanax to space out your pills?

Are you referring to "hangxiety"? Which is the anxiety which occurs after drinking alcohol?

Sorry I'm a bit drunk :( Yeah reduce tolerance is what I meant.
Alcohol will really increase the tolerance of the Xanax? Why? I don't understand.

And yeah 'Hangxiety' - I can't leave the house during the house after getting drunk the night before, because I feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack :(

I still don't understand fully, but I'm trying to help :)

are you using alcohol and getting drunk for a day instead of using your regular xanax?

and you're asking if that will lower your tolerance level to the xanax? by rotating in alcohol?

the answer is probably no, and in fact it may actually be raising your overall tolerance levels

And yeah 'Hangxiety' - I can't leave the house during the house after getting drunk the night before, because I feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack :(

The problem with alcohol is that it has a half life of only around 45 minutes. It ravages your GABA receptors and then leaves very rapidly, this is why you wake up with anxiety before even getting out of bed.

but to answer your overall question, no, switching to alcohol is not helping you get off the benzos, it's actually making it a lot worse.

I am speaking from experience. Alcohol during benzo taper or withdrawal is a god awful mistake. Alcohol paired with benzos is also a horrible and dangerous mistake.
