well hello im prescribed to zyprexa to deal with OCD and Anger 2 weeks ago i smoked a fat joint and it caused me severe paranoia i thought that i was going crazy luckily it lasted only two and a half hours(which seemed like eternity).today i had an argument with a close friend of mine over the phone ,so he suggested that we take a ride it roused suspicion at first place we agreed on the phone that we will meet at town than i went to town and i talked with my friend on the phone and i told him that he wanna kidnap me and do harm to me.when he finally arrived to the rendez vous i refused to enter his car claiming that he wanna kidnap me we argued than he suggested that i will drive the car i finally accepted than i started driving and i had severe paranoid thoughts,i thought that he and his friends gonna ambush me and beat the shit out of me.when we finally arrived our destination he told me to wait in the car that he was going to buy something i waited in the car than i had a terrible thought that the car may be rigged with explosive so i got out rapidly he finally returned and he told me a very frightening sentece :"your acting like someone on half of lsd drop" that sentence triggered more paranoid thinking and i decided to take a bus home while waiting for a bus i had horrible parnoid thoughts that was reduced when i finally got on the bus.when i finally arrived home the parnoid thought had been substantially reduced i went to take a shower and took my pill of zyprexa(5mg) then i watched tv with my dad.sorry for my english i hope you understand the main issue.can weed cause flashbacks????

Weed in general doesn't cause flashbacks, but it can aggravate paranoia and anxiety quite easily. It's generally not a good idea to smoke cannabis if you have bipolar.

Talk to your doctor and let him know you're having paranoid thoughts. They can adjust your medication to suit.

I'm a little confused by the way you worded it. So excuse me if I try to clarify a few things.
It seems you said you previously smoked a joint and suffered from paranoia. Then today you didn't have anything to smoke, yet you experienced a episode of paranoia. So your wondering if you had a "flashback" of your experience some days prior when you smoked a joint?
I would say no, that is not possible. It is more likely you had an unrelated case of paranoia. As seiko said I would definitely see your doctor and tell him you have been suffering from severe paranoia. I would definitely refrain from ALL drugs except your medicine prescribed by your doctor.

This is not a flashback, there is no mention of an initial experience you "flash back to", reliving that experience as if it actually happened again.
Paranoia is a different phenomenon.

This is not to say that it is not related to the use of weed, which may have destabilised your thoughts and emotions. That initial destabilisation could be the reason that you now easily get paranoid and confused but the possibility that they are related should not be called a "flashback". I still take your question and worries equally serious though.
I recommend that you talk about the feelings you had with the therapist that prescribes you the zyprexa, even if you must leave out having used the weed. Also it is probably best that you don't take any substances that agitate you or make you paranoid like cannabis, stimulants or psychedelics. Just take it easy for a while and keep an eye on yourself to protect you from people and situations that may make your condition worse.
Weed can definitely trigger psychosis, so try not to fall into one.

For the record: it is not a drug that causes a flashback in and of itself, it is anything that results in an experience so intense and (/OR) traumatic that something triggering it may cause you to 'relive' the experience at a later time. Both the initial experience as well as the trigger may be related to drug use but since they don't necessarily have to be it is theoretically possible to have it with any drug you can think of. Though psychedelics are most known for this phenomenon since they can cause experiences with unparalleled intensity (even if there are other drugs that can give you intense feelings like euphoria).

To illustrate: I've had one definite flashback (I say definite because I realise what the trigger was - a song - and which exact experience this made me 'flash back' to.), and it was not negative or frightful. It was more like a deja vu so powerful that it produced visual distortion and other extraordinary weirdness, while sober.
