A writer I like once said that the way he deals with writers block is through improvisation.
His approach is that he begins writing about the writer's block itself, why he has it, how it's frustrating, what his day was like up until that point, how he's feeling, and what's on his mind based on how his days and weeks or even months have been going and what his near-future plans are and eventually into his conceptual thoughts and so on.
The idea is to just keep tirelessly writing whatever is on the top of your head.
Then, he takes what he gets out of it later, even if it's just randomized nonsense, and edits it by taking out the bulk of what it is that he doesn't like.
Affectively writing himself out of writer's block.
