Wouldn't this warrant a bad trip?

I read about a guy that went to a music festival and took LSD his first time there and said he had an amazing time. (it was his first psychedelic) Isn't there like 100% chance to have a bad trip if you take LSD in an unfamiliar place? maybe he took ex too which made his trip a little less scary? what do you guys think?

Nothing 100% guarantees a bad trip. Festivals have a lot of sensory stimuli and that can be very overwhelming for inexperienced trippers but lots of people enjoy psychedelics at them. MDMA can indeed help foster a positive mindset.

The social vibes at most festivals make it just the right place for someone's first psych experience. Crowds could be a bit claustrophobic, but that's it really

I big festival may be very cool. I mean think about it how many people had very postive "first timer" experiences in the early 80's at Greatful Dead Shows. A community vibe of psychadelia can be fun and even off a form of helpful guidance, through a reasonable dose.

I would not recomend the large crowd vibe for higher doses, for me anyway, I learned that lesson, I preffered more intimate set and settings, big empty backyards or even camping trips were the place for me.

Yeah I think this comes with the same caveat as always that the setting needs to be good. If you're tripping at burning man or boom festival then that would probably be great, but if you go somewhere like reading festival or an event that caters to a more alcohol orientated audience who don't have the same understanding then a bad trip is much more likely.

Depends greatly on the person and the vibe of the show. You would have a great time if everyone was having a great time, provided your mind didn't drive you crazy. Where as if your tripping and step on someone's hand who is sitting in a crowded venue and he socks you in the face because he's drunk, you may have a bad trip then but maybe not. It all depends on you and the setting.

If you are predisposed to having a psychotic break and you are not aware of this then a bad trip is unavoidable. You may not have signs if any mental problems but we are all capable of losing our minds if we go too far. All of us. I have seen half a dozen people have psychotic breaks, end up naked or thinking everyone is going to kill them. These were all normal people no mental health issues in their past yet they went crazy for 4-6 hours. All you need for your first time is a person who will chase you and take you to safety if you go crazy.

Ive done Acid in a good few differant places ranging from outside, to at a friends house with only me and a mate or 2 other friends there, to full blown nights out down the town in nightclubs, saying that the few times i have done it in nightclubs ive also had a belly full of e tablets aswell and rocked around in the club.

Acid is marvelous, proper life salvation drug ..

I've had many of my best trips in unfamiliar settings, in fact the aspect of the unknown can add to the fun, excitement, and sense of astonishment that you experience. The main thing is that you should be safe in your setting, and you should feel safe and comfortable there.

If you're a regular festival-goer, you're there with friends or know how to handle yourself, and you take a dose you can easily handle then you're very likely to have an awesome time - whereas if you feel a bit uncomfortable and lost at festivals or only go rarely, or you take too much, or you feel unsafe or threatened there you could have a terrible experience.

There are many factors that influence how the experience turns out, a setting being unfamiliar or familiar affecting an experience is likely an individual thing based on how comfortable you are in unfamiliar settings.

Well one of my best experiences was seeing George Clinton and parliament funkadelic on about 1/8 of mushrooms. I communed with the mothership and it was easily a ++++ and eventually I had to ask my friend who was just stoned to take me home. He obliged and we made it home just fine with me laughing maniacally in the backseat. During the show I got uncomfortable bc I was sweating so profusely that I thought I had shit myself but it was just me tripping out. Had it been another show more alcohol centered I might have had a harder time but just about everyone was probably stoned or tripping...lots of tie dyed shirts.

I don't think the OP is serious. If he read about a positive LSD experience, why would he ask if there was a 100% chance that the good experience he read about was actually bad. The question does not make sense.

All personal preference, all my buddies want to take LSD at a festival this summer, and I dunno, that's just not me.

Psychs to me are best on a warm day in a nature setting with one or two other people. I can't imagine being in a sweaty crowd of what could be 1000's of people, music blaring. Sounds awful to me. But to someone else that might be really fun.

What we can say for sure is that being in a setting like that could make the trip very intense and confusing, what with so much sensory stuff going on, could get overwhelming.

No, i wasn't trolling. I just thought maybe the story i read was untruthful cause i always thought psychs made you sketch out in unfamiliar places but i guess not. thanks guys

Well, lets put it this way, I would not drop a tab or two and go to Work. I would not drop a tab or two and go to meet a girl for a blind date. My work is familiar to me as anything, but it would be a bad place. Taking a girl out on a date may be a lot of fun, or it may not.

Going to festival.... esspecially an out door one could be great in the summer time. A big huge EDM (electronic dance music) even like Ultra in Miami may be a bad idea, but in all honesty going to Burning Man, or something like that could totaly work.

I have to admitt, I did not know what to expect going to a big Dave Mathews event on MDMA, but it was fucking great, did it on awhim with this chick that had tickets, and I had some pills. Turned out to be a wild night. I would imagine the general goood lovey dovey vibes going around and around would have gone well with Shrooms or LSD, as we magically found many other people on substances like that through out the night

the only 100% guarantee for a bad trip is if you're somewhere you have to act straight, like work or going to court or having a meal with your family and shit like that. or in general in front of people who will snitch.

Even that doesn't 100% guarantee anything. I've tripped several times when I've had to act sober and go about normal things - none of them ended in a bad trip, some were uncomfortable at times, others were fun. It's all about your personal preferences and how you handle yourself in different situations and in different states of mind. :)

Anyway since the original question has been answered many times now..

Closed. :)
