Would tar in lungs (from Tobacco) effect absorption?

Been wondering about this for a while so I though I'd ask here.
Would the build up of tar in the lungs from smoking Tobacco, even Weed I guess, effect the absorption of other drugs inhaled? i.e. Would you have to hold in the vapour of [substance] for longer or is it likely to be just as efficient?
As you only need to hold in a vapour of a chemical for a few seconds for the maximum of it to reach the bloodstream don't you?

Well active buildup of tars is only one problem. Smoke causes the alveoli to prolapse, which makes them useless for gas-exchange-- so if you're a longtime smoker, you have significantly less alveoli available to move the compound into the bloodstream, which could affect absorption time (although I have no data to back that up, so take it with a grain of salt).

My advice is to stop smoking before you make your lungs any worse, although that's certainly easier said than done.

Peace <3

Obviously smoking is making me totally thick too as I should have thought about the quality of our alveoli due to cigs :| Yea that makes a lot of sense, but yup - I shall gain a grain ;) (though it does seem very logical).
And yea, I really should. I've cut down a lot over this past half a year though so I guess that's a positive step. It's still fucking my lungs and such up regardless of how much though.

Thanks for the reply Roger :) Peace back-at-cha ;)~♥

I used to think about this when I was doing a lot of nitrious and right before I started I was thinking about quitting smoking. I noticed that the gas seemed to effect me more and quicker when I would stop smoking for a relatively longer period of time. I'm sure there's something to sure, like what Roger said....again, a "grain"/.

I think more than tar covering aveoli, the constriction of airways caused by tobacco smoke would probably have a greater effect on reducing gas exchange in the lungs. That being said, the damage done to aveoli is definitely not helping, but clearly, exchange is till happening (assuming your O2 sat is normal)

Think about COPD: asthma, bronchitis, emphysema. All these illnesses seems to be related to less air in your lungs.

101 stupid things to do

I was just sucking down a can of Dr. Pepper that has been sitting around a while. I got to the bottom and noticed something in the can touched my mouth, I think it was a cigarette butt. EEWWW! I never want to smoke now and it has nearly made me sick.:(

Oh thats groce!!

OP, I smoke both (cigs on occasion) but I noticed no difference. In absorption speed.
