Opioids Would Like a "Risk Assesment"...

I've acquired some 600mcg subsys sprays (fentanyl) but I don't want to use them until I can find out what I can compare this dosage to. As far as fentanyl experience i've been prescribed 50mcg patches in the past for pain and have used them by putting them in my mouth on my tongue/cheek and got a fairly decent buzz out of it but nothing overwhelming. When I use norco or oxycodone i usually do 200mg/day w/o problems and morphine ER i've taken the coating off about 300-400mg and used them by swallowing and got a nice buzz off it and it lasted a while. Regardless, my otlerance is ridiculously high but I don't feel like taking any risks i don't have to

So what can I expect out of subsys 600mcg? Should I not use them based on what you know about my tolerance?


I read that Subsys can't be compared to other opiods dosage wise except for actiq, but i've never used those either. I don't know how to gauge how much to try.

I'm also aware you're supposed to start using the sprays at smaller doses THEN move up to higher ones.

Is it possible to only use part of the spray? I heard there is a mechanism that prevents you from using some of the spray and "saving" the rest for later.

Would really like some advice guys; i couldn't find much on subsys online; probably since it is so new?

100mcg of Fentanyl is equal to 10-15mg Morphine.. And the Bioavailibility is almost the same, i will post the exact bioavai... soon

So a 600mcg spray, when fully used, would be equivalent to 60-90 mg's of morphine?

I've taken 300-400 mg's of ms-contin (with the coating cleaned off) at once to get a decent buzz going...Does that mean one spray probably won't affect me much? I'm sorry I sound so neurotc about this but I really don't want to put my parents through another "episode" if you know what I mean.

Maybe I should just stick to what I know, in the interest of HR...

Fentanyl and it's analogues are notoriously difficult to dose, which is why I'm not really comfortable with threads asking for exact dosing information....not that I would rather have someone give you a "ballpark figure" of how much you should dose, but fentanyl is a serious enough drug that you should be 100℅ sure based on your own research that you're taking the proper dose...not just blindly trusting anyone who happens to shoot you a number on the internet...
