Worst Cotton Fever ever I think?

Two days ago I came home from work and took my evening medication. Which consists of 1/4 of an 8 mg Suboxone strip. I have been taking my meds this way quite some time once in the mnorning once in the evening. I have only had cotton fever once before but in this case I had had no sleep the previous night. I did my shot and within a minute started to feel a little off. I started to get cold and a fever came on. I closed my eyes and would almost be in a dream like state with in a minute having very real like "dreams" then waking up to my girlfriend trying to make me feel better. She had done her meds but used a different spoon and cotton. In turn feeling fine. The body aches were horrible and it is by far the worst I ever felt. My girlfriend read as fast as she could how to help me and read that a second shot might help. This seemed to take forever but only 2 hours had past. Right before she gave me the second shot I woke up and started to feel better. I waited on the shot to see if I would continue to feel better and I did. Finally I gave myself the shot but the body aches continued for the duration of the night and when I awoke the next morning I still felt a little off and called into work. <y question is has anyone else has similar experiences with the dream like state during a cotton fever episode? Do you think it was from the lack of sleep or? Just to give my history I have been an IV drug user long enough to know to use wheel filters and all the safe practices of IV ROA. All though I do not use wheel flilters I still do not re use cottons and I use a fresh rig every time. I know there are alot of different ways I could have gotten the cotton fever I am just wondering why the dream like well I would call Hallucinations. I didn't have a thermometer so I couldn't tell how high my fever was so if it was from my body temp being so high I couldn't tell you

I was just doing some research on shooting suboxone for no apparent reason... well I don't dig on shooting up my drugs but the thought has most certainly crossed my mind. Anyway I suggest you check out some of the info because a lot of threads I saw kind of made it seem like a bad idea. Many case studies out there of people with abscesses. I am not trying to scare you or anything, especially if you are all right at this point. But it seems that shooting Bupe is brutal on the vascular system.

I can say from experience that snorting it was brutal on my nose. I legitimately could not breath through my nose for 3 weeks without a decongestant, which are bad to use as it is. And I was only snorting that stuff for about 2 weeks, a few small lines a day. It caused my eustachian tubes to be all f'd up and of course my nasal membrane, too. I got dizzy and spaced out from it, also. My nose is pretty sensitive to opiates, probably doesn't help I do my DOCs that way for the most part. But snorting H and oxy were just bothersome, snorting the Subs was brutality after snorting much less over a much shorter time frame. I think I had to get my hands on some prednisone so help with my nose issues from the Subs. I think I have snorted Subs 2-3 times since and just one isolated time proves to F up my nose for a few days.

And yet again not to scare you too much, but think about how the drug is designed to absorb sublingually. So it probably is able to absorb into veins and heart muscle unlike other drugs. Kinda makes me think it will cause more damage. I am guessing you are addicted to the needle so its not an easy option to just plug it or use it the way its intended.

OP, that sounds totally normal. When I got cotton fever after the initial hell passes and I'm able to stop shaking violently, I get into an almost dreamlike state. It's like I'm asleep but I can't actually get enough peace to sleep for more than a minute. So I'm just constantly in and out of that state which sounds like kind of what you're describing. Also, it could be you were just nodding. I get in a kind of dream/trance like state during a nod where my imagination runs wild and it almost seems real.

I don't think that makes any sense. The drug, the actual chemical, is not designed in any special way to be able to be sublingualed. Most things are effective this way. People use benzos or other opioids this way frequently. It doesn't mean it's going to cause any more damage via a different ROA. I don't even know what you mean, absorb into the heart muscle. If it's injected it's gonna go through your circulatory system like everything else, which yeah involves the heart but bupe isn't just absorbing into everything it passes any more than anything else in the bloodstream. However, the films were obviously not made to be injected so there is a possibility of things ending up in. Your veins that shouldn't, especially when injecting without a micron filter.

i caught cotton fever after a night of smoking crack (yes all the horrors, black finger tips, unhygenic, dirty environment). anyway i decided to shoot crack, so i did, and i believe i caght the cotton fever not from the actual cotton, but probably from not being sterile (my hands were black and dirty), the needle wasnt fresh, the cap wasnt fresh, cotton fever can be caused by a number of things, its just a common term "cotton fever", but yes even cottons too will, fresh ones still have bacteria..the experience was horrible, all my muscles and bones ached, i was weak, to the point where i was lethargic and in extreme uncomfortable and muscle spasms, thank god the guy who was there was a former EMT, he forced me to stay awake, stand up, and drink lots lots lots of water to hydrate, he said laying down could potentially be very dangerous giving not only cotton fever but shooting crack and smoking it. its not a game..i have got cotton fever from shooting pills before, idk.its a bacterial thing, and its not fun...i ould advise everyone to be sterile, get alcohol wipes, use fresh gear everytime

Hi, Im kind of freaking out and need some advice, and this is the first time Ive ever used BL, and I dont know if its because of that or if Im just retarded that I cant figure out how to post a new thread...so this was the most recent post I found about this so I figured I'd at least try. Ive been an on again, off again heroin user for the past few years, and my boyfriend and I picked up again about a month ago. Last night, he went and picked up and the stuff was great and no problems. Then this morning I woke up and he was already up and put some in a spoon for me and mixed it for me. I normally would never let anyone do this (even him, and we've been doing drugs together for a long time and we're both clean and all that), but it was the last of what we had to get me through the day and so I didnt have much choice. Anyway, I finished getting it ready n then shot it. Within a few minutes I felt like something was wrong. A big weight on my chest and breathing really fast and mad anxiety. I haven't gotten any shakes, and I dont think I have a fever, or body aches or any of those cotton fever symptoms, just the heart rate and shortness of breath and anxiety. I started freaking out, and called him just for some reassurance that this stuff wasnt any different than normal or whatever n he said everything was the same. I've had cotton fever 3 or 4 times, so I know what it feels like, but this seems a little different. The only thing I noticed was when I went back and looked at the spoon and everything else, I noticed there was a little piece of tobacco in it that I think got cooked up with the stuff. Could it be that or just cotton fever or could it be sepsis or something else...?? This happened maybe an hour and a half ago, and Ive started feeling better over the past half hour and now I dont feel too bad, but Im still worried about it. Im starting a new job today and really cant afford to miss it, but if its sepsis or something thats really dangerous and I could die..I dunno if my inner hypocondriac is just acting up or if this is really a problem. Anyway, any advice or assistance would be much appreciated. I think this is it on the IV use for me...not worth this kinda stuff.

my major signs are the chills, uncontrollable shaking, headache, bone/muscle pain, extreme weakness, it usually takes 30min to effect me after IVing

The same thing just hAppened to me... About 20 minutes after my shot I started shaking so bad I thought I was havin a seizure... Now my body's on fire and I'm in and out of consciousness. I can't get out of the bed even if I want to I'm so weak.

Is it better to use the cotton from a cigarette?

^ there is some debate regarding the benefit of using cigarette filters (which are generally not made of cotton) instead of sterile cotton. People report experiencing cotton fever after using both. A .22 um micron filter is obviously the safest route, but if you don't have access to wheel filters and you're dead set on injecting anyhow, I think your best bet (whether using cotton or cigarette filters) is just to thoroughly clean everything, do your best to remove any particulate, and hope for the best. Using cig filters will NOT explicitly prevent cotton fever.
