So my bf has been in the hospital for almost a month, he was admitted for drug induced psychosis. He has come back to reality and sounds like himself now.He is getting really depressed because he thinks he is going to be stuck in there for ever and is going to miss the birth of his child.

I talked to him today and he sounded pretty good. Then I find out a few minutes ago he got started a fight with another patient, apparently he has been into 5 altercations. He has been restrained once. But his family isn't telling me anything I have to find out things days and hours after they happen. I am getting very scared because when i heard he has been aggressive 5 times I was shocked because this doesn't sound like him.. I am really scared.. I wish I knew what was causing this aggression.. COuld it be a side effect of the abilify or something deeper?

Abilify should make people less aggressive. Which drug caused his psychosis? Is he still using (he could be using secretly)? Is he taking any other medication?
You should really talk to the doctors to find out what's really going on.

Good luck :)

I just wish I knew why he was being so aggressive.. :( He is in the hospital, he has no access to drugs so I know he isn't secretly using. No he is only taking abilify. I think he is just getting upset that he has been locked in the hospital for a month and can't go outside and isn't working.. He misses life out side of his unit. he told me today the other patient hit him first and that he hit back. but still he has been aggressive in the past at the hospital.. But when I went to visitation today it was so nice, I sat down and had a hour visit and the guy I was visiting was the guy I fell in love with. I see him making progress he just has to keep working at it. Does anybody know how long the usual stay at a mental hospital is? He will be in there for 30 days on the 10th..

any updates dessy? what country are you in? as if it was the uk will depend if he was sectioned or asked to go in. sometimes just being in a certain environment like a mental health hospital is enough to scare people and put there defences up high. he could of been reacting the only way he knew how to. most people just need a cool off period in these places as after a certain point in time it could cause further problems to develop.

any updates would be great.
