Had a call with my mom and yesterday and today she says it happpened about 3 times yesterday and once today, where she could feel her heart giving fast multiple short beats, then it would go away. Her doctor has her on what is common for people her age (mid 50's), 81mg aspirin and Lipitor to prevent formation of clots and deep vein thrombosis in the legs. She works at a childcare centre and is the "chef", she cooks the food for 50-60 kids with another assistant but that's it. She also takes only one out of 2 menopause medication, she used to take Estrace and then later something in the similar kind of meds which was a patch for all those menopause symptoms that mimic in certain ways opiate withdrawal, waking up in a bed full of sweat, my step-dad has bought a bed to put in his office in the basement because of this and also because of the apparently really loud snoring. So, med-wise for menopause, she takes nothing except Clonidine for heat waves and always laments that she's feeling hot when the temperature is mild, like today, where she lives, 2 hour north of so from me, it was very warm and humid, 27c with the humidex pointing at 34-35. She says the same when it's 18c outside, like today.
Other meds I know she is scripted is low dose of Cymbalta, 30mg, the lowest dose out there, mostly for fibro-like pain, it's not clear if she has it yet and a Vitamin D pill to take once a week that has a gram of it in it. She has been on higher doses of Cymbalta, even the off-label massive dose of 90mg when she had some financial difficulties, but she weaned herself down to 0mg herself and the doc said she did it in a smart way, but got back on a small 30mg dose because it helps with the pain. I told her to suggest to the doctor BuTrans patches, they're often given to people in their last years before retirement, it's not a patch of 5/10/20ug an hour that would turn my mom into an opiate addict. They're only for chronic medium pain, which fits the bill.
But right now it's those arrhythmias, or more accurately short lasting dysrhythmias she told me she had in today and yesterday. She will see her doc asap, her doc only does 2 days at the office, the other 3 are home visits. I told her, remember when I was into coke (I don't lie to my mom since I got over 27 or so, it's retarded, she surely noticed that I did not buy the car I had test driven for sale and use the car loan to smoke freebase, which lead to more than just a visit to the ER and an EKG telling me all is fine, but I gotta stay because until the cocaine is inactive, we don't take risks and send people who had arrhythmias no matter how short, especially on cocaine out before 4 hours. So the ER doc gave me an appointment for a treadmill stress test followed by an EKG and then and echocardiogram..I haven't been yet. My doctor told me that it's only a problem if this kind of "jumping" beats lasts over 15-20 minutes to immediately call an ambulance or be driven to the ER. I should be clear, the freebase smoking and me is a 2008 phenomenon, everything turned out fine tough, although I wish they had done an angiogram or examined my feet. My ex GP (who retired but thankfully transferred me to another one who is even better than him), I went there one because my left ankle would swell and also my feet, a couple years ago, but it doesn't happen anymore. I think it was insisting on drinking a few beers a day even if I was on suboxone, but who knows, he said, you got to start taking walks, knowing I work from my desktop, said to sometimes just take 15-20 minute breaks to just walk around outside the block to get that circulation going, that you didn't want to phlebitis at such a young age, which can be dangerous. I got my GP to script me 81mg aspirin and got myself a very good (and expensive) stationary bike that monitors vitals and even can print paper trails, which I collect in a thing made for card collectors in a binder, since then no more problem regarding this, I remember how bad it was, even putting on my shoes without any socks hurt a hell lot. But damnit this isn't about me but I gotta add :
As in my case, sometimes, out of nowhere, often when getting up, i'll get a stabbing sensation literally following a line on my chest from under my armpit to the other, and the stabbing sensation is in the middle to middle-right area of my chest. But it disappears as fast as it comes. But still my ORT doctor pulled the referral paper to get that done, he wanted me to go do it immediately (the ORT clinic here is inside an hospital). Been pushing it for 2 weeks, but I have to go, for that, and for bloodwork related to testosterone, hypothyroidism from one blood test, my endocrinologist says she wants more than one test to be certain this isn't just a fluke, same with the high prolactin levels. But high prolactin levels, low testosterone are 2 effects from the only approved by Health Canada, except for 30 people or so in Vancouver who managed to get a script for diacetylmorphine ampoules, 2 a day before the last Tory (goodbye forever fake conservative party, full of reform party nuts who took the reigns when merging with the then Progressive-Conservative Party, a name it had since the 50's), but yeah, methadone more so than bupe, but bupe also lowers T levels and causes issues, but treatment with Delatestryl caused itself issues etc. blah blah, this isn't about me, but my mom. Any advice regarding my mom? My issues are now non-issues except for that short stabbing pain and test I gotta take. But right now, thats not matters to me.
