World War II history appreciation thread - you insensitive clod

Yes as a matter of fact I have been to Dresden. Several times. As I said above saturation bombing is pretty nasty but the damages inflicted by the victors are going to be a lot worse that those inflicted by the vanquished.

Also I fail to see what insulting my mother has to do with anything. But have you you ever been to the East End of London? Who the fuck do you think started the tactic of bombing civilian areas? What do you think was falling out of the bellies of the German planes in 1940? Fairydust? (incidentally where I live was a major ship building center on the North East coast and was bombed to fuck killing my grandmother and two of my Aunts).

If you can't contribute to the thread without resorting to insults or pathetic racist pictures then don't fucking post.

Do you honestly think there was a "Good" side and a "bad" side to WW2?

"Oh they started it", that shit doesn't fly when I moaned to my mum when I was 7 so why should it now? Just admit you were just as horrible as the Nazis and move on.

Germany didn't really start WW1 as made out to be - which WWII kinda resulted from.

Yes Nazi Germany were the bad guys, and they needed to be invaded and stopped. There was a lot of bad happening in Russia and other countries too (bad concentration camps were throughout Russia)
 
Lets not forget the Japanese raping and performing human experiments through Asia and the Pacific.

The only good thing, if you can call it that, that came from WW2 was the explosion in human medical knowledge and science and technology advancement. If the allies we so outraged they would have burnt all the medical files rather than swoop on them and the scientists involved, using them to advance modern society for the next 50 years.

I really don't get your point. I've tried to point out that WW2 was hell for all concerned and that the saturation bombing of German cities was an awful consequence of mechanized TOTAL war (which the German's declared).

And err yes I do think there was a good and bad side to WW2 (in the sense that any war is anything other than tragic for it's participants by definition). I think a fairly overwhelming majority of people would think that the prospect of Hitler's Nazi Germany becoming the world's dominating superpower was a fairly alarming prospect and that admittedly in order to beat Germany we had to do some awful things (namely kill our fellow man) but if you had to choose a "good" side.....I'm pretty sure it would be the Western Allies (can't really say the "allies" as that would have to include Uncle Joe Stalin and he was a cunt).

Also did you not get that my flippant comment "they started it" was a joke (hence the big yellow smiley). Although while the wording was a joke the concept wasn't as the German's DID start the war by invading Poland with the sole intention of conquering the whole of Europe if not the world and completely eliminating Jews, Gipsys, Gays, Free-masons, Poles, Jehovah's Witnesses etc. etc. so I think the point is valid.

Having said all that stuff I would have to agree with you about Star Wars.....what a fucking let down. Although the new one is meant to be going to be good.

At least you managed to post without insulting my mother which had you done to my face would have necessitated pistols at dawn (whether you liked it or not :) )

edit - how do you think all those innocent German civilians died in WWII. They didn't all kill themselves - or they weren't all killed by Russians

I'm not saying I would necessarily have wanted the Nazis to have won the war, but it occurred 30 years before I was born, so I don't really share your nationalistic pride of soldiers who may have fought under the same flag of my current abode.

I'll say again, all war is stupid. History is written by the victors, just as only the losers are brought to justice for their actions. Come back to me once 75 years has passed and the official report documenting the British troops in Schleswig-Holstein who plundered Glücksburg castle, stealing jewelry, and desecrating 38 coffins from the castle's mausoleum is released. Or the reports pertaining to hundreds of rapes of women and children following operation Overlord.

The bombing of the East end is tragic yes, but no less than the cancers and other illnesses inflicted upon innocent soldiers and aboriginals exposed to irresponsible nuclear testing in the Australian outback by the British military.

Other than the fucking cool uniforms that the SS Panzer troops got to wear (designed by Hugo Boss) and the cool tanks (mainly designed by Ferdinand Porsche) why the fuck would you want to be a Nazi in WW2?
 
Well they never bombed a Greenpeace boat in my own harbour a few marina docks away from my families boat so I probably don't hate them as much as the French if that's what you are asking

It's debatable who started WWI. Kinda narrow minded to think that it was just 'Germany invading Russia' A lot more things happened than that. Can't blame one side fully, though you can blame some countries more than others

Also just for clarification a "white nun" doesn't indicate the colour of her skin. It's the dress they wear...All white as oppose to a white hat and block robe for other nuns. I don't profess to know the details of what the colours signify but I might look it up just out of interest.

EDIT - looked it up and the most easy to understand explanation that didn't go on for like 5 pages or something was this:-

"There are different "orders" of nuns. For example:
- Cistercians
- Franciscans
- etc.

Each order has their own uniform, called a "habit". Some of them are white; some are black; some are other colors."
