Opioids working out/lifting weights on opiates

As someone already said earlier, be careful because you may injure yourself and not be able to feel it. I know this from experience. I was snowboarding when I broke my arm while already high on oxycontin. I broke it right below the shoulder, and it broke on an angle. Very odd sensation not being to feel my arm or move it at all but also feeling very little pain.

on oxycodone i find that i am able to work like a machine... and my workouts are also much much better....

i find oxycodone/ and opiates in general usually just amplify what i am currently doing at that moment... resting... ill be nodding out... if im working.. ill be fully focused and getting shit done at a much quicker rate.

You shouldn't be on opiates and working out. At most run, play basketball or whatever sport you play. Lifting weights is a bad idea, been lifting since I was 12 (on and off). If you're trying to get stronger you shouldn't be on opiates, period. Your gains would be dramatically effected, not to mention how dangerous it is. It's dangerous enough when you aren't high. Just ask Stafon Johnson.

All you guys that do take opiates and go lift should stop, get off the opiates, then get back to the gym and build your body and mind. The discipline you get from a strict workout regime will carry over into other parts of your life. Your mind will be "clear". You'll be able to think with a clear head. Don't waste you're time on the opiates in the gym.

i have never been one for any kind of physical activity. i could never find the motivation. however, now that i take oxycodone daily, i do have the long missed motivation. i'm working on getting enough moneys together to join the Y on my college campus as now i'm driven to workout. i'm female and don't plan on lifting though. i'm thinking more swimming and treadmills. i have been taking my dogs out a lot since my addiction got serious and am a lot more active than i used to be. i have personally never had any issues, but i can see how using a depressant and then increasing your heart rate to a high level could pose a possible issue, but until then i'm going to join the gym and work out to my heart's content because i really enjoy it while on opiates. :)

i definately get more motivation and feel stronger on oxys, but i know to be careful because there's been times my chest has hurt for a week(when sober) after overdoing it.

i always preffered oxy after working out

but i also understand the feeling of not bein motivated to go to the gym w/o some oxy

i never noticed any negatives from using before working out. i just felt more positive effects when i did it right/soon afterwards

I used to work out all the time on opiates like oxycodone, morphine and codeine. I actually got pretty big and could bench press 300lbs when i first got addicted to oxy. But i had to give up doing bench presses or whatever years ago because i fucked my shoulder up to the point where no amount of opiates would cover up the pain.

Now when i do workout i just do knuckle pushups and stuff like that. I don't want to reinjure my shoulder and i might not even notice it much if im after taking a big dose of opiates.

So yeah if you workout on opiates becareful not to push yourself past the point where you hurt yourself.

why? how would your gains be affected? don't be such a douche and read the posts - or at least back up what you say. Lot's of people are saying they have great workouts when high. i know i do too. can lift harder. can run forever.

I have been taking pain pills and jackin up weights for years.. I have never known a problem at all.. If anything i think i can lift more when i take a pill or 2.. Right now im 5'9 187lbs and smack up 385 on the bench no problem. I can do a set of 320 for 7 reps. And im always lifting on opiates mainly cause im always on opiates when i decide to lift.

Certain opiates are almost guaranteed to make me exercise. Oxycodone, kratom, and buprenorphine come to mind immediately. Add a vape hit of marijuana to the mix, and I'll be even more pumped!

I've done it many times before on oxys and hydros and I've found that it's a waste of the high because of the focus and energy it takes to lift weights overpowers the euphoric buzz. And the sedation makes it easier to fatigue.

However, doping after lifting weights are some of the most blissful experiences i think one can have on opiates.

Most opioids lower testosterone, which would impair gains. My testosterone was normal at ~550 ng/dl (range 300-900) when I was on 6 mg of Suboxone with Prozac, which also lowers T...now that I'm down to 0.25 mg bupe I wonder what it is now. I feel like its probably very high and since I started lifting a few weeks ago I've been putting on muscle way faster than I did when I worked out for a couple months while on 6 mg. Tons of studies have shown that daily use of methadone and other full agonist opioids really suppress testosterone. Buprenorphine probably lowers T but not nearly as much as other opiates. I think even single doses of opioids decreases androgens transiently.

So it would seem counterproductive to use opiates while lifting. At least if taken with any regularity. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience lifting while being on opiates for an extended time and while off and how they think there was a difference in gains.

I've read multiple places that opiates have been shown to lower testostrone(sp?). In fact, some long term addicts have to take testostorne from the doctor to get their levels back up. And, I will say from personal experince it was always better to save your opiates for after workout, because nodding in/out (to me) is the enjoyable part of the high. Can't really nod out lifting weights..

^That is certainly worth a mention, but it also should be mentioned that 1) buprenorphine apparently doesn't have this effect, while others have it to varying degrees, and 2) this is an issue mainly for daily users. For a personal example: When I was actually addicted to oxycodone, I didn't work out with nearly the ferocity that I do when I dose here and there. When I do opiates irregularly, I get unbelievable levels of motivation and the ferocity I describe, which translates to great gains. (Note- Buprenorphine didn't have this paradox IME, which fits nicely with the scientific data on the subject...)

I can't speak for gains or anything like that, but it is something I wouldn't recommend. Opiates are analgesics, and it would be easy to cause injury without noticing, in many different ways. In certain situations, such as this one, pain is your friend.

Why not just use the opiates after you've completed your work out?

what i came to say.

you get the natural endorphins high from the work out before you get your nod on(or whatever high your going for). you win both ways. plus doing a light weight session gets those veins pumped and risen real well:D

as has been pointed out there's only risk of injuring yourself and not realising at the time.
