words keep me warm at night
words cradle my sanity
words take me everywhere
everywhere that you don't
down twisted
rugged
uncharted paths
through rainstorms
short-cuts
traffic jams
but you
you seem to prefer surface streets
familiar routes
busy corners
protective banter
glazing the truth
meaningless conversation
protecting yourself thru ignorance
no you would only stumble on my paths
and trip clumsily on my thoughts
while hastily trying to keep up
with my reckless wandering
flying thru stop signs
passing on double yellow lines
this perpetual motion would
only confuse and frustrate
no your mind is too simple
your paths to straight
and your intentions to pure
to take you on this journey
and my words would
once again
be wasted
on the wrong boy
with nothing but good intentions
