Words for those who hurt

Rain falls,
as tears fall from my eyes.
The dropletts of water
pool on the window,
my eyes flood over,
and tears spill down my cheeks.
A grey sky looms overhead,
reminding me of the somberness,
reminding me of the hurt,
sorrow,
pain,
and the attack on my freedom.
Images of our flag make my heart swell,
as I thought I lost my patriotism long ago.
United States,
United in sorrow,
come together as one
and mourn the loss of so many.
Do not think our great nation has been forsaken,
for to leave this world,
and enter the next,
is cause for celebration.
