Hey guys.

To make things short, I've basically been using Diazepam since mid October last year now and have been ranging from 20mg every other day, and sometimes up to 40mg in one day. I am now ready to withdraw as I know this is not a good thing at all and was wondering what the best way of reducing it is? I wanna get off these things as quickly as possible but also as pain free as possible; and I know from past experience that that doesn't usually work out.
I'd appreciate any tips.
(I've had 15mg today)

I did a micro taper.
Put 10mg valium in 100ml full fat homogenized (common blue top) milk, and dissolve.
Take out a dailly cut using a markered syringe, from amazon. The cut size is decided by you.
It helps to get a little book to put your taper down on paper.
If after a few weeks you feel better, slightly increase the cut size, or, if you feel symptoms creeeping back in, reduce your cut size immediately and all should return to normal.
You need to take the same amount daily so work out a starting dose that holds you.
You'll need 2 jars, one bigger than the other - I used a kilner jar to put my milk in and smaller jars for my doses, as I took two a day, but sometimes you can get away with one dose per day on diaz as its half life is really long.
Remember, you probs already know, that diazepam withdrawl symptoms don't show straight away, there is a lag time and that lag time varies among individuals, it can range from a few days to in rarer cases 14-21 days.

Symptoms vanished when I got on the right daily cut.
You haevnt been on it that long so the taper should only take a few months.

Since you've been changing doses from a range of 15 mg to 40 mg in a single day, you're going to have to figure out what dose you feel most "stable" on. Unfortunately, it's probably going to be 40 mg. You're going to have to work your way by doing slow reductions using Dr. Heather Ashton's method. You're already on Valium, which has a long half-time so you've already won half the battle of coming off of benzos. 3dmusic's method is quite accurate. You just need to find the proper amount to reduce your dosage by each day. For example, you might just want to cut from 40 mg a day to 39 mg a day. You would then hold at 39 mg a day until you felt "stable" again and then reduce again to 38 mg etc. all the way down to 0 mg.

You can do home taper for pretty much anything except benzoate
If you taper to quickly you can have a seizure in your sleep and die
Doc supervised is the best option
