I take suboxone on a regular basis. I recently cut it down to a quarter or less a day. However 2 days ago and 3 days ago I didnt take any suboxone, I took some perks and the day after some MS Contin. I lost my last suboxone and am wondering if my withdrawals will be that like suboxone or like the pills? Ijust lost my job so cant get anything, so Im hoping its not as long and drawn out as the suboxone withdrawals are Id rather short and harsh over long and depressing...Thanks for any answers

EDIT: wondering if I went to the emergency room, I just lost my job friday, would they give me anything to help with withdrawals or do I just have to go through it on my own?

Well you take suboxone on a "regular basis" and you only took pills for 2 days after you stopped the suboxone soooo your withdrawls will be long and depressing sorry.

Im pretty sure they will not give you anything if you go to the emergency room unless your withdrawl is so bad that they consider it an emergency.

Good luck i dont know exactly how bad your withdrawls will be because you didnt give your dose of suboxone but i have read up a tonnn on suboxone and people who are on it for only a year and hop off at only 1 or 2mg have reported some badd withdrawl but who knows how you will react.

2-4mg a day for a year and a half, will be fun. I was kind of hoping taking the morphine and oxycodone and being able to get high off of it would push the suboxone out of the system.

Nope. Not gonna happen. I am currently STILL feeling withdrawals from taking 8mg subutex daily for around 18-20 months. My last dose was August 18th so it's been about 6 weeks. The worst days for me were days 4-6 after my last dose. I'm not gonna lie, it sucks. There are some comfort meds, some OTC and some prescription that can help with some w/d symptoms, but they can only help so much.
I do feel a bit better now, and I have gone CT off H multiple times, and CT off methadone before. I would much prefer going CT off H than go through this sub withdrawal. I will never touch sub again under any circumstances.
Good luck!

Loperamide can help with some of the physical WD symptoms, and there are other things that can help as well depending on what aspects of the withdrawal are worst. I'd say the ER is not going to be hugely helpful unless you really are very unwell from it - in which case, by all means go! Do you have a different doctor you could see, a GP/family doctor or something? If you are prepared to, it might help to to explain the situation and see what help they can offer. Are you planning on quitting everything for good? It sounds from your post like you weren't scripted the Subs (sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick) - if it is too much to just jump off the dose you are on, perhaps you could get on a proper maintenance programme and taper off that way?

Good luck! <3

edit: have changed the title of your post slightly to make it clearer to others or people using the search engine what withdrawals you are referring to, I hope that is okay.

Your withdrawal effects are going to depend largely on your daily dose of sub/bupe and how long you were taking it. You are going to go through w/d's, there's really no way around it. Some commonly prescribed comfort meds for sub withdrawal are clonodine and kpins (or other benzos), and some OTC help would be diphenhydramine, melatonin, valerian root, loperamide-which is Immodium AD (as effie mentioned). The sub withdrawals aren't as intense as H, but last significantly longer, and are no fun at all . I just went through it, and am really not completely over them at 6 weeks of no sub. If you are are young, healthy and tough you could probably handle it without comfort meds, but my old ass has gone through so many withdrawals before I had to get some comfort meds. Be careful however you go about it, and please post here if you have more questions. If you were on sub for a good while you are gonna have a few pretty tough days, but mostly you will have mild w/d symptoms (relative to SAO's) . Just be careful. Try to stay busy and keep your mind off your w/d. Some people swear by the loperamide, saying that it helps a great deal, but honestly it didn't do much for me. I stocked up on xanax, and my doctor gave me clonodine and kpins. The w/d's Still sucked pretty hard. Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing .

Agree 100%. I wish I had just withdrawn cold turkey 15 months ago rather than getting on suboxone. Yes the withdrawals are worse, Ive been there, but the withdrawals from Suboxone last sooo much longer. And to EFFIE, yes I do buy them off other people, which makes it worse because I cant always get them, so I have to stock up when I can. Also Im transitioning between jobs, so I have no money at the moment. I start my new job in about a week and it would be horrible to go through my first few weeks there in withdrawal.

Also here it takes several weeks to get an appointment for a suboxone doctor, however I can go through my psychiatrist to give me a referall to the doctor in the office, so Id get in pretty soon. However she prescribes me xanax, and 90% of the time, hearing from peoples posts and several people I know, theyre very hesitant to prescribe both at once. I have to say I need the xanax far more because I do suffer from severe anxiety and panic disorder. Oh well, hopefully Ill just be prescribed something else, take some loperamide and I have sleep medications. Just trying to eat well and take vitamins also. I do have suboxone at the moment, but only about 5-6mg left and dont think I can get anymore til I have money in my pocket...

i quit sub ct after tapering down to 2 mg a day. i just hated taking the shit. my wd's were VERY mild. i think mostly because i was ready to be off it. i also found that after a week or so i felt better than i ever had while taking sub, it was like this foggy depression blanket was lifted. i did have benzo's to help with the sleep but mostly i just stayed really busy. i was really surprised. i suggest that you hold on to the few you have and wait till you feel like you have to have something then take a small amount. sub is evil in my book, although i never realized it until i quit. good luck! peace <3

The hardest thing about quitting subs is the fact it is a marathon. It's true, the worst days are 4-6 days in, and it takes about 10 days to see any recovery. I jumped off at 2mg though, so it's conceivable cutting it down to .5 or less would have made it easier. Think percentage of total dose when tapering - like 5% at a time could theoretically reduce withdrawal to a minimum. There's an overwhelming opinion you have to jump off at 2mg or 1mg, but I don't believe it. I was in a hurry, so I jumped at 2mg and it was no fun.
I treated symptoms and cheated with valium and a small amount of tramadol. I treated malaise/dysphoria with L-Tyrosine and tons of exercise. For me swimming and running a lot were key. I made it though...

For about a year, then I relapsed. I'll let you know how my next taper goes now that I'm older and wiser. duhhh.

I would say you will have withdrawl symptoms. Compared to oxy or heroin they will be mild and last much longer. Because suboxone is such a longer half-life drug, the withdrawl will last much longer. (common sense) I agree with the poster that said if you can avoid it, don't get on suboxone. If it is the only thing keeping you out of a dangerous addiction, it can save you. Since you are already on it, no point in beating yourself up. If you want to quit, do. Keep your head up, stay active, stay away from opiates of all types, and you will get better. (easier said than done I know)

Yeah fortunately I was able to get a few more and taper down to about .5mg a day for the last 3 days. I still had withdrawal symptoms today even though I had taken some yesterday and my last piece today. Probably because I went from 2-4mg right down to .5mg. Luckily I have some xanax, but only a few mg so I have to make them last. Not sure if my doctor will write me another script since I dont have health insurance at the moment, so I have to just call and ask if she will write one up for me without seeing her. Im sure she would. Anyways Ive already gotten to day four in the past, and it was hell, I wish I had just stopped then but I managed to get my hands on some more.

Hopefully this time Ill just be able to go through it, keep myself busy, etc. Ive been wanting to quit for awhile, I just couldn't handle doing it while I worked full-time. But, like I said I just lost my job so Im going to take a couple weeks off before I go looking for one again, I cant really see myself working or going to interviews while Im withdrawing.

I was taking 12mg of a sub day for three months before I quit cold turkey. Probably wasn't the smartest thing to do but I had to make a 70 mile round trip to the clinic every morning and I just got sick of the drive, etc. After two days of quitting, I didn't feel any w/ds, probably because of the long half life? It took almost a week for me to begin going through them and here at two weeks, it feels as if I still am. I'm very tired, no energy, the runs, restless legs, and over all body ache. Somas, valiums, and weed have made it a not as bad, but after so long now, I'm just rather sick of it and don't feel like doing any opiates for quite some time. :(
