Would 10 mgs of methadone bring someone out of withdrawals if they have had a 4 day oxy binge, about 100mgs a day. Will one get severe withdrawals after using for only four days?

Thanks dudes!

4 days of oxy use from an opiate naive user should not create horrendous withdrawal symptoms. 10mg of methadone would certainly help any negatve feelings, but I don't think it would be that hard to just go without, and I'd advise that you do go without. In no time you'll be fine again.

Yeah the longer you use opiates the longer and harder the WD's will be. 4 days isnt very long at all.

It depends on how long/often you've been using. The longer you use opiates, the more intense the withdrawals get and shorter a binge has to be for you to experience them. But if your tolerance is around the 100mg a day mark, I'd say you should be fine after 4 days. If you don't, 10mg of methadone should fix that. Or failing that, buy some codeine and do a CWE.

If I understand you correctly.

You have taken oxycodone for 4 days straight.

If this is true and you have only been taking opiates for the past 4 days then there is no reason to think that you will get any kind of withdrawals. 4 days is not long enough to develop a physiological dependency.

Taking 10mg of methadone will go a long way to ensuring that you will experience mild withdrawals when the methadone concentration in your blood drops low enough. That's because taking the methadone at the end of a 4 day binge will effectively extend your 4 day binge to 6-7 day binge, due to the long half life of methadone.

If you are really coming off a four day opiate binge then the best thing you can do for yourself is ensure that you don't take anymore opiates for another 4-5 days at least. The only way to avoid a physiological dependence is to abstain.

Wait 4 days and then take the methadone, you might get a buzz out of it that way.

though something tells me that you might have forgotten to tells us that you have been using opiates prior to the past 4 days because 100mg in one day is a lot of oxycodone to get through for an opiate naive individual.

^ He didn't actually say anything about his previous opiate use, so at 100mg a day it's pretty safe to assume that this binge isn't his first time on oxy.

He could be using time release oxycontins, an 80 and a 20 or any other combination spread throughout the day, doesn't sound like too much to me.

that is a lot of oxy but as the others have said its subject to your history re opiates.

If your concerned about withdrawals and you haven 't been taking many opiates prior to this binge then there is a softer but just as effective alternate to Methadone, that being Vitamin C

just as a tip don't eat the dose in one hit, spread it out over a day and you'll find yourself having as the study shows, fairly mild withdrawal symptoms.

BACKGROUND: Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), administered orally in high doses has been observed to relieve pain and reduce opioid use in cancer patients. In vitro studies have also shown that antioxidants, such as vitamin C, may, at high concentrations, inhibit the endogenous opioid degrading metalloenzyme and increase endorphin levels. In the present study the effects of oral administration of high doses of vitamin C on withdrawal syndrome of heroin abusers were investigated. MATERIALS AND PATIENTS: Ascorbic acid at doses of 300 mg/kg b.w/day, supplemented with vitamin E (5 mg/kg b.w/day), was orally administered in two groups of heroin addict subjects consisting of in-patients (Group A, 30 males) and one of out-patients(Group B, 10 males), for a minimum of 4 weeks. The group A in-patients were also administered the conventional (diazepam + analgesic) medication. The results on the intensity of withdrawal syndrome (WS), estimated according to DMS-III criteria, were compared to a third group of heroin addict in-patients (group C, 30 males-control group), treated only by conventional medication. RESULTS: The patients of the vitamin C-treated groups (in-patients and out-patients) experienced mild WS (in 46.6% to 50% of the subjects) in contrast to the control group patients, who experienced mild WS in 6.6% of the cases. The vitamin C-treated subjects expressed major WS ranging from 10% to 16.6%, in contrast to the untreated subjects (control group), who expressed a major WS in 56.6% of the cases. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that high doses of ascorbic acid administered orally, may ameliorate the withdrawal syndrome of heroin addicts. Further studies are needed in order to estimate the dose- and time-dependent effects of ascorbic acid treatment, and to clarify its mechanisms of action in the withdrawal syndrome.

If you haven't had previous experience with physical addiction to opioids, then as suggested above go without the methadone. You won't have withdrawal, and taking the methadone will just be putting more opioids into your system... one 10mg dose of methadone will do nothing for WD if you were to experience it, it would simply put it off.

In my experience, 4 days is just around the cusp of experiencing mild w/d symptoms. if you have the willpower, take at least 3-4 days off. This will prevent most w/d symptoms. Methadone will help curve any w/d symptoms; however, it is not the best route in your situation. Moderation is the key; and after 4 days, you should take a break. Methadone saves lives; but again, a harder drug to taper off of and stop. Please think this over before you make such an important decision. Point being: If you don't think you need methadone, don't use it. Please try abstinence first. If you plan on being a recreational user; again, moderation is key!

so, did the op endded up getting wd's????

i've just finished plugging my last dose of oxys.
been using continuesly for the last 10ish days or so.
Def gonnna be getting some WDs.

Lucky for me i've got some methadone tablets around 10mg ea, and some clonaz :D
this should be quite a easy wd's :)
*HOPEFULLY*

ages ago I went on a two week binge of having between 60mg to 140mg of oxy a day. I only recall having mild withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Just felt like I was coming down with a cold, but then it cleared up after a couple of days.

I didn't use opiates much before then. Four days I doubt with cause any withdrawal symptoms.

it all really depends on how much previous opiate usage psytaco.

these days even a 2-3day binge on oxys will bring mad wd's for days on end afterwards.

sad :(

If you are binging for 4 days I usually find that the WD's disappear within 4-7 days. What saved me from my opiate addiction was weed. Never really used weed when using other things previously and thought id give it a go. I worked on quitting buds for a while and managed to quit that as well. I say switch drugs then slowly reduce dosage and then forget it. Worked for me. I know how shit WD's can be. Words cannot explain the feeling you get and no one should ever live like that.
