I tried searching for this answer, and didn't find anything related.

Which withdrawal do you guys find harder? Both methods for adminstration would be sniffing.

No IV.

Light - moderate daily use.

Which is more painful? Which lasts longer?

Thank you for your answers, in advance.

I don't really understand, the point of the question.
I do understand the question fully, but why would you ask a question like this? Are you planning to become addicted to one...?

If you are just sniffing.... I think they are both around the same.. it also does depend on the dosage use... whats moderate? To some moderate could be 80mg Oxy a day or 200mg Oxy a day.

Inimical: you just made a post asking for information regarding a first time oxycodone experience, im not sure if your in the best position to give advice.

Heroin is a bit more difficult to come off of, but oxycodone withdrawal isnt exactly easy. I have gone through both, and essentially, they are pretty much the same, dose depending, but heroin (in my case IV) seemed to have a more severe withdrawal syndrome. Heroin is a bit longer acting, so the withdrawal period is longer. This may mean the oxycodone withdrawal could theoretically be more intense, but shorter lasting. Personally, i'd rather get it over with as quick as possible, even if its slightly more intense. But from my experience, heroin withdrawal was both more intense and longer lasting......

I would think Heroin, because its more of a dirty drug
Dirtiness of a drug does not affect the length or severity of withdrawals...I mean, look at methadone. Completely legal, and yet with an incredibly long withdrawal process.

Heroin is a bit longer acting, so the withdrawal period is longer.
Oxy's halflife is 3-6 hours, while heroin's is .5. As it is heroin only functions as a transport to deliver morphine to the the brain, and the elimination halflife of morphine is only 1.5 hours. See here for some info on this. Also heroin's duration of effects is listed as 3-4 hours and oxys at 4-6. This still places oxy as a longer acting substance. This means that while severity is likely dose dependant, withdrawal from oxy takes place after a longer period from last using than heroin.

As it is I still feel that asking the question is worrisome in that you seem to expect to get addicted to a substance, and want to know which is better to get addicted to. Both suck.

I think that dope is worse, but that's just my opinion.

Anyone who has injected oxycontin, knows it doesnt last 4-6 hours. I can only get an hour out of it (IV), at the most. Heroin seems to last longer, at least from my experience. I usually stick to the books myself, but in this case, half-life schmaf-life, heroin just seems to last a whole lot longer than oxycontin (again, when injected). Heroin is also much more sedative, so during the withdrawal, there is alot more annoying CNS-stimulation. Ive withdrawed from high doses of both, and i never hallucinated until i withdrawed from heroin. Oxycontin withdrawal is no joke, but heroin takes the cake in the shittiest (no pun intended) withdrawal.

It all depends on the rout of administration. If you swallow OxyContin than the withdrawls will be longer than say someone who injects heroin becuase the half-life is much longer. Heroin may have a more painful withdrawl as most say.Methadone is known to have such a horrible long withdrawl because the half-life is VERY long, just as OxyContin is if swallowed and not injected or sniffed.

i mean that the onset, duration and initial severity, due to its slower breakdown in the body (apparantly due to it binding to protein molecules, whereas H binds to carbohydrates, the metabolise quicker - pls correct me if i am wrong). Personaly though i think methd is the worst wd i have ever experienced, it just goes on and on. Even dose reduction on meth i hate.

I went cold turkey off methadone before, and it was worst than heroin and oxycontin combined. I had been taking 180mg daily, and then accidently took 2 doses, 360mg in 24 hours, and didnt get another dose until 60 or so hours later. Never in my life have i thrown up so many times. I felt like i was covered in red ants, and there was just some unexplainable psychological element that made the craving seem just immeasurable. Not only did it seem more intense, it lasted a long time, and i was still withdrawing even after i got the methadone. I kept on puking up the methadone (oral solution) so i had to inject it. I was still throwing up for a few days until my blood levels went to normal. Definately the most horrible withdrawal experience i've had as so far.

My friend went cold turkey after 8 years of methadone use taking 180 mgs a day and he said the physical withdrawl lasted around an entire month. He also said that after the physical wd he went thru psychological withdrawl that was worse then the psychological withdrawl from heroin and it lasted 3 months and he didn't feel back to normal for 6 months after quitting. This is a person that detoxed off of heroin numerous times before and after this experience and he said methadone was without a doubt the worst experience of his life and methadone was the only drug he would never do again.

Either way there both a strong opiate withdrawl.
When your dope sick the last thing ur thinking about is which is worse

i've watched regular oxy users switch to snorting herion when oxys weren't available and switch to methadone when that was in supply, although the doses were differen't for each substance, they adjusted intake to reach the same high. as far as what's the worst withdrawl, i'd say like the substances themseves, it's interchangeable, what matters more for withdrawl is how much you use and how regularly, plus some people, such as alcoholics, are more prone to addiction, thus mental factors play in too.

No, methadone withdrawl lasts longer and from what I've heard is 10x worse then heroin withdrawl.

I have done alot of oxy's in the last three years of my life, and i have been adicted to them for about two. About two weeks ago I quit doing them. I laid in bed for damn near two weeks, and I would've almost rather died than withdraw, but I finally got off of them and I can't believe how good I feel. I had lost alot of friends, money, dignity, and worst of all my families trust in me. My life was slipping away from me. I did alot of shaddy things to my best friends and closest relatives. I just want to say that if you like oxycontin or you are starting to do it often, please don't. YOU ARE FUCKING WITH THE DEVIL'S CANDY. I also want to say sorry to my best friend dru. I did a really shaddy thing to him and his family because of my addiction. I hope I can one day be forgiven and my trust may be re-gained. I know what I have done may cause that to never happen but I will just have to deal with it. -peace

withdrawl from both would be about the same... i would go with OC because if you do get addicted you will have too get right off because few ppl have a steady oxy hook up and if you do dont even fuck with it.
