withdrawal of substance causing very vivd dreams?

It is certainly one of the more interesting symbolic symptoms of withdrawal. Dreams are fascinating in general as for me at least they give me great insight into thoughts and emotions I am not fully in touch with otherwise. Although not always pleasurable they can be wonderful teachers as they have the ability to highlight the anxieties that may plague your conscious life in an abscure way when considered fully. Oh how I love sleep and the experience of the dream world, however traumatic it can be at times. I dream of tidal waves often. That is my one recurring dream. Ah

Sometimes I purposefully perpetuate widrawal so I can feel more "connected" to everything and have those dreams. Almost like tripping.

^ I completely agree. Not only that, it reminds you of both your habit and your frailty.

When you have a never ending source, (such as a methadone clinic, lots of cash, etc) it becomes too easy to forget that you have a habit. Every once in a while, you have to let yourself experience w/d so you don't forget . You appreciate your habit much more, and it has a few positive effects previously mentioned

My recurring theme is I either die or I keep trying to get people to kill me. Death in dreams is incredible.
