I know this may go in the sub forum, but... I thought I have finished my weeks of heroin wd, it was about three weeks and by then I had no symptoms of wd whatsoever.
It was then when I took half a sub strip.
This was the first time taking sub since I quit heroin...and I got "high" from it.
I have never gotten high from sub because I have always been addicted to opiates.
When I got high, I figured that was almost proof that I wasn't addicted to opiates at all, and that I wouldn't wd when it was over. But the next day I did have symptoms of wd. Did I not fully kick from opiates? Or...
Your thoughts?

Well, once you fully kick opiates and are clean, thru withdrawal, and getting back to normal, the PAWS (Post acute withdrawal syndrome) kicks in. This is the lingering mental part, the part where the cravings kick in, maybe some anxiety/insomnia/depression (in some people), and the feeling that "Oh, I beat opiates. I can do it once more and be fine)". Literally the worst thing you coulda done so soon after beating that demon, man..

Once you have a physical addiction and get clean, using even ONE more time later on can bring back those familiar feelings and afflictions. Many people get clean and then figure they can get high one more time, with no consequences. Well, that is incorrect. Due to your previous addiction, another use (especially 3 weeks after detox) Can throw you right back into withdrawals after using (Just one time!) Albeit the w/d certainly won't be like cold turkey heroin w/d or anything but may be a bit uncomfortable.

If you REALLY want to use an opiate again (jsut once) after being clean, I would suggest waiting 6 months - 1 year in order to let your opiate receptors repair themselves, thus reducing the likelihood of getting w/d after one use. You didn't become a junky in a day, you won't get fixed in a day.

Bottom line, if you truly want to be sober and clean from opiates, chipping like that is a one way ticket back to the hell you just got out of.

My advice? Steer clear from any and all opiates regardless, for a few years

I believe you I just want to ask Why? After going through WD would you use a subs strip (ywhoe guessing?) You said you used subs before did you WD from them or go back to H. WD from subs is enough to keep me away. Should be just a few days after it wears off.....hopefully.

Tread carefully, brotha. Don't give in to those temptations after 3 weeks again! It's setting yourself up for disaster and I think just about every one in OD can vouch for that. I am in your same position, over 3 weeks clean and my cravings are kicking back in. That like, well I feel pretty awesome now I should go get a bag! Don't do it dude.

So how do opiate receptors work? I understand developing a habit then quitting makes you withdrawal, of which the intensity depends on the amount, how often, potency, etc. But when you've taken a break, say 6 months, a year, then you get into opiates again, but not every day, say just on the weekends. For the 5 days during the week that you're off opiates, do your receptors have enough time to "repair" themselves?
Say for 6 months, you do opiates every weekend, from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. By the next Friday, have you completely washed your system clean? Or are you slowly adding more 'recovery' time. Like for the first month or two, by Friday, you're completely good to go, but the third month in, your receptors are not as refreshed as they were months prior?

Does that makes sense? Hopefully someone can enlighten me.

There is no simple answer to those questions. It is a very individual response.

Some people can chip forever and never feel sick, others come off 5 mg of Hydrocodone and seem to be dying.

YMMV has never rang more true.
