Hello community,
sorry for the long text but I really need help.
Because of a nerve injury from a surgery 1,5 years ago, I receive
Oxycodon retard 20mg twice daily. From time to time I crushed up
the pills to get high, but most of the time I used the pills as
prescribed by my doctor.
Three weeks ago I switched from oxycodon retard to hydromorphon retard
8mg. The hydromorphone was barely working for my pain and I guess it is due
to the bad oral bioavailability. That's why I sometimes crushed and sniffed small
amounts of it to get rid of the pain.
2 weeks ago, 3 days prior to my shoulder surgery, I was abusing the hydromorphon
and sniffed 4mg straight. It gaves a nice high. Three days later, a Tuesday, I got
operated on my shoulder. In the hospital, where I spend one night, they gave me 60mg
oxycodone retard because they did not have hydromorphon. The oxycodone retard worked way
better for pain relief than the hydromorphone retard.
However, the pain was still too hard to fall asleep so I spend the night in the hospital
awake and left next morning. The day of release, I took 40mg Oxycodone retard again to help
with the pain.
2 days after the surgery, Thursday, I took Hydromorphone retard (8mg) again. But the pain
was still too hard to fall asleep, so the next day I sniffed 2mg Hydromorphon in the morning
and luckily was able to sleep 3 hours. The same day, I visited my doctor who prescribed me
Buprenorphin 0,4mg. I took it in the evening the same day I sniffed the hydromorphone.
Unluckily, I was still in pain and until Sunday evening, I sleeped like 8 hours total in
5 days. On sunday evening, I was so tired and stressed that I couldn't sleep with the pain that I took 0,8mg Buprenorphin
and smoked a joint. Luckily, I was able to sleep 7 hours this night.
Monday morning I woke up and the pain was there again so I decided to sniff 0,2mg Buprenorphin.
Over the weekend, I used 4,5mg Buprenorphin total, which does not seem that much.
However, 1 hour later trouble began.
I suddently got dizzy spells and the feeling of losing conciousness. I also felt terrible sick from my stomach.
Every few minutes I felt like passing out and it scared the hell out of me. I went to the emergency room and they said it may was too much
buprenorphin. I left the hospital the same day and kept myself awake in my bed until the flashes of fainting were less.
Then I closed my eyes and slept.
The following morning, I still had dizzy spells and the feeling of passing out. My brain felt like it was "asleep" - a numb and empty feeling.
Now it has been 7 days since this incident and I am still not 100% clear, eventhough I can sleep.
My remaining side-effects are:
- dizzy spells
- my eyes move automatically when I try to look at an object
- numb brain feeling
- depressed
- mood swings
- tired even after sleeping 9 hours
- balance problems
My last dose of Buprenorphin was 5 days ago (0,4mg). I am now back on hydromorphone 8mg retard and I do not feel any pain relief from it.
Is it possible that the buprenorphin is still in my system and caused withdrawal? Or what is happening to me? I feel so light-headed sometimes that I can't walk
balanced.
Please let me know what to do and how to stop this. Up the dose of the hydromorphon, maybe?
Regards!
