With Methyphenidate , do negative side effects decrease over time like with AMP?

I've read (and have a little experience firsthand) that with long term AMP use (daily, somewhat low, prescribed doses) negative side effects tend to diminish .

Is this the same with Methyphenidate? I've been dosing between 50-150 mgs daily and have been able to tolerate the dose more I guess...

Anyone have experience with this?

I couldn't find much info when I tried to research it.

I used to take ritalin/concerta back in high school but I barely remember anything about the diminishing side effects with regular use. All I remember is that you don't build a tolerance nearly as bad as you do with amphetamines. I'm still surprised that I haven't seen more people on ritalin in college because of adderall's tolerance/addiction issues.

But to answer your question I think I did see some relief with the negative side effects after regular/daily use.

Taken in high doses with frequency, the negative side effects (agitation, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, dependence, etc.) increase with time. That has been my experience.

The side effects decrease once your system adapts to the medicine, unless you are misusing it.

I enjoyed methylphenidate for some time. I dug the enhanced concentration and light euphoria. Unfortuantely, the junkie in me wanted to do more until I was insufflating ~100mg in a session and experimenting with IV administration. I could not handle the comedown from such doses, nor could I abstain on my own, so I told my physician to not write me any more scripts.

It is a good study aid, but overall it is not a good recreational drug.

Well that blows. I posted somewhere else that I was thinking about getting back on the ritalin train but with a combination of some sort of benzo. I was hoping this would fix the anxiety, nervousness and insomnia I get taking that stuff. I've heard good and bad stories from many people doing the mix but for long-term use, haven't heard much.

^agreed. Mixing them decreases the positive effects of both, at least for me. But benzos are tailor-made for stimulant comedowns it seems.

I'm a pretty experienced and former HEAVY user of prescription stims , and I must say, MPH is VERY much like coke , with a little longer duration , and pretty bad comedown. One of the worst stims i've ever dealt with , it's mostly a last resort , i-hate-myself sorta thing.

MPH seems to make kids very fucking weird if they've been taking it since they've been young (gradeschool). I know a few "ritalin tragedys" and these kids ,even after being off the MPH for a while, are still big sketchballs, with a lot of social problems. Seems like they're in a constant suttle comedown, and they can't fully integrate socially.

IV MPH is not as bad as other forms of admin. , seems to not do as many negative things. I think it has to do with MPH's somewhat strange pharmacokinectics, as the liver metabolism breakdown products are just plain nasty, and IV gets past that...

Ugh, i need some better stims. IV concerta is gross , and the extraction about a half hour to do. Not very safe either, I know that. Even the IR ritalin pills IV'd left weird precipiate marks far up my arm where it seems like binders just kinda got stuck at and turned red...
