Benzo use= 1-3 mg k-pins daily

Alcohol.... about a 12 pack four days a week

Don't know what I can do about my full-time job. But sober I am one hit tremoring mess. I'm a major f'n mess.

Edit.... 27/f/120 something pounds.... been on benzos daily for over a year

I'd just talk to a doctor about a taper plan instead of going inpatient if you don't have to. You mentioned you work, so that would allow you to continue. Also, it won't be such a drastic change in your personal chemistry, so you should be able to handle it better.

As Venrak said, if you have the means to taper off, or reach a lower maintenance dose then DO NOT RUIN YOUR JOB by suddenly disappearing (unless your employer is cool with it). But if you are being cut off or do not have means to supply yourself, I'm sure you know benzo and alcohol withdrawal is VERY SERIOUS, and you will need help from professionals.

How serious do you think? While drinking alcohol I may only take a .5mg k-pin a day, but without alcohol, it can go up to 3 mg, depending on circumstances. And now, no matter how many benzos I take it seems, certain situations make me want to crawl out of my skin... while others make me sleepy as hell. It depends. It's frustrating

And today, I took about 2-.2.5 mg klonopin throughout the early day to help with a job interview... which went to shit anyway... and now, at night, I'm drinking beer fine with the normal beer intoxication.... tolerance, I Suppose

OP you don't need a doctor, just taper your self off.
I'm actually in withdrawal from klonopin atm, and doing it all my self. Why waste your money on a doc, be a man (even though your a female)

Cut your self down slowly, and stay off it. I noticed klonopin and benzos in general make me extremely stupid, and my memory was going to shit. Better to be off this stuff

Baclofen might help you alot to tapper off. Its acctually much less addictive and it will block most of the withdrawal symptoms. Though you can get addict to it if you dont tapper properly. You just need alot of discipline.

I don't know about the states or where you're from but in Canada if you go to your doctor and he suggests a taper plan that would still end in WD's or keeping you in the hospital (unlikely) then you can get him to sign off saying you talked to him, and if you go to your employer and confess your problem he isn't legally allowed to terminate your employment in any way.
Unless he's a jackass who doesn't actually give a fuck about helping you and finds a way to lay you off when you return
I would definitely try a taper plan, not sure if the WD's from both with potentiate each other but seizures definitely do not sound fun

I'm not sure about benzo addiction, but over here hospitals run out-patient alcohol detoxes (this is dependent on degree of addiction, though). You only need to go once a day, and they check your vitals, and give you your meds. (It's librium here, usualy 6 day taper). If we're talking about a really heavy benzo or alcohol detox,in-patient may be the wiser choice.

I would advice against adding other addictive drugs that targets different receptors unless the relief from them is substantial. This goes for all withdrawals. Tapering is always the better choice.

Use another benzo (if you can) like Diazepam to taper off slowly. If you can't get Diazepam, SLOWLY reduce your Clonazepam dose. It has a very long half life so that's one advantage you have. I think people in this thread are acting like any form of benzo withdrawal is easy or even safe. They are a medical emergency to be taken at a serious level. You have to be extremely careful coming off them, you could have a tonic-clonic seizure and die if you go too fast. Be safe.

@behindblueeyes I'd say it would be smart to check into a hospital if you feel like you are in some sort of danger, or you really need the help of professionals to stop/taper. As long as you have enough pills to slowly taper down, you should be fine. I was a daily benzodiazepine user from 2009 -January 2013. In 2009-2010, I would take one 2mg alprazolam bar per day. By early 2011-2012, I switched to Klonopin and was taking 3-4 mg per day. By the end of 2012, I switched to diazepam and got bad for a few months. Took maybe 40 milligrams of diazepam per day for a 2-3 months. Then I really kind of just stopped, and I somehow did not experience any withdrawal symptoms. I was a daily user of a benzo for a little more than 3 years, and my taper regimen was something like 30 milligrams diazepam for 3 days, than 20 milligrams for 3 days, 10, 5 etc. Stopping didn't take me more than 2 weeks. I know this could end very bad for some people who have a stronger tolerance/longer addicition. I just wasn't using these substances to get high and knew where I was "addiction" wise with it. I used these medications for severe anxiety in school, and now that I have graduated school, I no longer take them daily anymore. I am aware that benzo addiction is one of the most serious addictions if not the most serious, and can kill you if you have a seizure from missing a dose or quitting cold turkey. I only tapered down myself because I knew that I was still technically a "functioning addict" fully capable of tapering myself. Anyone else who took benzos as long as I did or longer, should taper down much slower than I did. There were a few random days throughout those 3 years where I didn't get to take anything, and didn't experience hell but maybe a minor headache, guess you can say I got lucky? I don't really have anything bad to say about my benzo usage/addiction except I used to have to study twice as long for tests/exams lol. I wish you luck in getting rid of your bad habit, hope my story helps you out.
