wisdom teeth and pot

I waited 3 days and was fine. Most people recommend 3 days-2 weeks, but recommendations vary widely. Dry socket is very, very painful, so wait as long as you can.

If you need to smoke everyday then just make edibles during the no smoking period. This thread has been done many times.

I walked out of the dentists and lit up a cigarette, then went home and sparked a bowl. Never got dry sockets.

I also know people that would put cotton balls over the area that was worked on...

Mine healed just fine, and I also just got over Bronchitis without having to stop or cut back... just goes to show how much weed DOESNT interfere, though I believe it doesn't HELP, especially your immune system.

I know people that listened to their dental surgeon and never got dry sockets too, though.

It's not the marijuana that interferes, it's the act of sucking on a pipe, joint, bong, vape, blunt, etc.

Same reason you shouldn't use a straw for 24 hours or smoke cigarettes for several days.

That's why I said make edibles. Smoking anything sooner then 3 days after tooth removal greatly increases the risk of dry socket.

Instead of going through the hassle of making edibles i'm sure you could just whip up a gravity bong. As long as you don't have to pull any harder than your normal breathing you'll be good.

Good idea, but then again I always think a grav is a good idea...

Just wanna throw this out there to anybody reading this thread. Just because one guy on the internet got away with it, doesn't mean you will.

I Could claim i'm invulnerable to cancer having smoked almost half my life, without any tumours growing. but that would be a false assumption based on my solitary experience.

I dont think anyone took what i said as fact. Jus my experience

Nd i never said anything false, thats jus what happened, and cotton balls do help, as well as small rolled up TP

^To add to that, if you do smoke within 1 or 1.5 weeks of the removal, rinse your mouth out with warm salt water before and after each time you smoke. I think the tp/cotton ball thing also should be soaked in water before you put it in your mouth, and gauze is equally, if not more, effective.

Yaaaaay, I get to throw a couple pennies at you sons of bitches. :D

Your experience probably is true. The assumption a person reading your experience would likely make, however, is false. That assumption being that since you didn't get dry socket as a result of smoking after a wisdom tooth removal operation, they wouldn't either.

I'm glad you didn't have to endure that shit, man, but it would be such a shame if the posting of your experience led those with a weaker immune system/body to disregard the advice of every dental specialist I've ever spoken to or read from and to needlessly suffer having their jawbone partially exposed for several days to a few weeks.

Long story short, Newb wasn't calling you a liar by any means. :)
