well it sounds like you're on your way to that as long as you've got the willpower to stay off the pills once you've gotten through w/ds, that's really the hard part IMO.
getting clean is much easier than
staying clean.

^^ Yeah but he said that he didn't want to be on subs for long.
I agree that some people feel no WD from bupe, but everyone's different and I, personally, felt sub withdrawal to be fucking horrible; especially having to work in a job I hated during.
It will take weeks to taper the sub down to 0,5mg, and then he'll have to go through weeks of WD's.
I am not dismissing your comment dP, but I think if he can, he should just cold turkey. Many people on here seem to hail subs to be an absolute life-saving godsend, some wish they had never heard of it.
I think subs should really be reserved for heavy, long-term users, who simply cannot stop.
OP, the choice is yours. Good luck!
the first bold part is absolutely true and I couldn't agree more, everyone is different, I know people who have tried subs 5, 6, 7, 10 times and they just don't work for them. I also know people like me, who had to try twice or 3 times but it eventually worked, and I've met people who try them once and boom, they're done with opiates forever.
I think it really comes down to your mental situation at the time. if you are 100% committed to getting clean and staying clean, then suboxone is a great tool to have in the arsenal, IMO if you are only getting clean because you
have to (law, parents, spouse, etc) then suboxone is only going to maintain you until the heat is off and you'll go right back to using when the coast is clear.
the second part I disagree with a little bit, because when I started on subs I, like most dope feens, was trying to get high still. so I took two 8's the first day and basically wasted them. because for me, as I found out later, 16mg does the same as 8mg which does the same as 4mg which does the same as 2mg.... it was only when I started going down to 1mg, .5mg, .25mg that I noticed a little difference....
IME people should start off with 4mg or less, because you're only fooling yourself thinking that 16mg is necessary when you could have the same relief of symptoms from 4mg. so using this, a quick taper could go from 4mg monday, to .5mg on saturday and the effects would be almost the same for the user.
this is of course just my experience, as you said, everyone is different. but if I were asked to set up a taper for someone trying to quit, and I only had limited subs to work with, that is how I would do it.
