will learning about neuroscience give me a better understanding about how certain drugs affect the brain and about how different receptors and neurotransmitters are affected??? will it give me a better understanding about why drugs make us see, hear, feel, and think things in a different way???

Yes, if you pursue this type of knowledge you will learn about more. "Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system." (Wikipedia) If you study Neuroscience you learn about the chemical processes forming the foundation of what you are talking about . You also learn about other biological systems and some psychology.

Pursuing the middle ground is beneficial. If you only see the small details you ignore the big picture. This is why advanced medical degrees include many courses on subjects surrounding the field of specialization.

Yes learning neuroscience will help you understand how drugs interact with the brain, but you need a background in molecular biology/biochemistry if you want to really understand the neuroscience. You also need a solid amount of chemistry at this point if you want any hope of understanding the biochemistry, and eventually you want a solid foundation in organic chemistry if you want to really understand whats going on.

Neuroscience is a huge field though, and most of it doesn't have anything to do with drugs, so studying pharmacology (or more specifically neuropharmacology) will help you apply what you know about neuroscience and biology to drugs specifically.

I think your question's been answered so I'm going to close this up. Feel free to private message me if you have any more questions about anything I wrote, or make a post in The Big and Bangin' Pseudo-Advanced Drug Chemistry, Pharmacology and More Thread for any more questions like this.

Also take a look at the Erowid/BlueLight Neuropharmacology Text if you haven't had the chance already. Great place to start!
